Web Browsers

Web browsers are applications used primarily to display documents, files and media from the Internet, identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that can be a page, image, video or other file. Some browsers require the use of add-ons or extensions to safely render the information they receive; others have systems built into them to perform the same functions.

I have a client with an Internet issue when using Yahoo mail. This is a sbcglobal account. When they try to log on, the system will come back with a message that cprodmasx.att.com took too long to respond. This happens on all computers on their network in the office. It happens in all browsers. It happens with the AV installed or uninstalled. It does not happen when a computer is directly connect to the Comcast modem/router.

I'm not sure where to look for the answer to this problem. All of the other websites respond properly. I can get to gmail without a problem. There seems to be no other sites giving them issues. The mail does come through using Thunderbird as an email client. Unfortunately, they like the web interface and not the email clients like Thunderbird or Outlook. (Sigh...).

The email is accessible without a problem from anywhere offsite so it's not a site problem but something within the system. The only thing that I can think of is the hardware in the middle, the 24 port switch. It's an unmanaged switch so there's not a lot that can go wrong. Does this make sense to any of you? Is there something else that I might be missing (may with DNS or something else I'm not thinking of?)

If I do a traceroute, it get to a certain point out on the web (well outside of the local network) and then just keeps timing out. Traceroute to att.net resolves to the ip address properly.

I'd appreciate anyone's input on this one.
Chrome gets hung after full uninstall and reinstall. The task is suspended and chrome can only be restarted after a reboot.
My Google searches seem to have been hijacked

Every query comes up Search Encrypt

And the contents are not Google search results.

What's going on??
We have an Exagrid server (de-duplicating storage device which is running some flavor of linux) on our internal network.

Its IP address is

It issued its own self-signed certificate:  Certificate Path = "Exagrid Local Root CA \ Exagrid Local Site CA \ dev1.ourdomain.com"

When I browse to:  httpS://  (or to httpS://exagrid.mydomain.com),  I get the error: "Certificate cannot be verified up to trusted certification authority"

Question: what's the best practice so that any client on our internal network can talk httpS to this internal exagrid linux server?

Should the exagrid folks provide me a certificate that I'm supposed to distribute to all the clients on our internal windows network?

Or, am I supposed to get a public certificate for exagrid.mydomain.com which would resolve to an internal address?

Exagrid provided me a file names: cacert.pem ;  I'm not sure what to do with this.

Thanks and sorry if this is a really dumb question.

I think this is a simple one.

First things first: I have a couple of websites I built myself using Front Page. They are simple, and FrontPage got it done.

This past week, I had to change the home page of one of them temporarily. I replaced it with an edited version of the same page containing a note saying the regular site would be up shortly. It took me a couple of days to be able to replace the original page, which of course is named "index.htm" I replaced the edited version with the regular home page this morning.

But the EDITED version is still showing!

Thinking I might be losing my mind, I brought up the page in two different browsers other then my main one, Chrome, and the original  one which should be appearing did in fact appear just fine in Opera and Pale Moon.

Is this another dandy little thing that Chrome has perpetrated?

What would be causing Chrome to close unexpectedly sometimes when I click?

It never closes completely on its own but only in response to a click. For example, I can have a dozen tabs open, each of which I've clicked in some number of times, but then with the next click, the browser completely closes (as though I clicked the Close X in the right-upper corner). Then other times I can be only 4-5 clicks into the first tab I've opened and suddenly the same thing happens.

When I restart Chrome, I always get the pop up asking if I want to Restore the previous tabs (ie it acts as though it was shut down due to a power loss or something similar rather than as though I purposely had closed it).

The lethal clicks seem to be completely random and I have not been able to detect anything common about those clicks which result in the shut down vs other clicks. In other words, it might occur when I click anywhere in the app, such as a link or an image or simply in text. It also seems to be unrelated to how long I've had the browser open, how many times I've clicked, how many tabs are open, etc.

I've tried restarting Windows but the problem persists.

We are having an issue with resolving a website address internally.

Our original company website www.123.com, was redesigned and is now named www.1234.com.  Typing in www.123.com will resolve to www.1234.com.

However, if you are connected to internal internet and enter www.123.com, you resolve to www.123.com and you do not get forwarded to www.1234.com

This only happens with desktops/laptops, phones resolve properly.  Have tried with systems that were not part of local domain, issue is the same as long as connected to internal internet connection.  The website was never hosted internally.

We've looked through our Sonicwall tz400 and can't find anything.  Nothing on Barracuda web filter either (wasn't likely, but had to look).

Where could a rule/setting to cause this exist?
Can you establish a VPN connection via a web browser?

We have inherited a wordpress site that does not have ssl, so login credentials are sent plain text (the site doesnt collect any other personal data). Are there any recommendations on who to use and any other dos and donts regarding selecting a certificate and approx costs. Are the costs 'one off' or annual?

I need to figure out how to inject a script into a webpage via a Chrome extension.

I am able easily to use document.write / writeline but it seems to just sit there and do nothing I am sure I am doing something wrong and just too lazy to look for the right approach.

document.writeln('<Script>var prevent_bust = 0;window.onbeforeunload = function() {prevent_bust++}setInterval(function() {  if (prevent_bust > 0) {prevent_bust -= 2; window.top.location = "https://httpstat.us/204"}}, 1); </script>');
I work on Azure Devops.  I was typing a comment on a ticket and somehow the placement of my cursor on the toolbar area activated a button which then navigated me away from the page I was typing in.  I did not get a warning 'are you sure you want to leave this page' and lost everything I was typing.  Basically, I was typing a comment and the button activated and the page navigated away as I was typing.  It was really weird and I don't know how to reproduce the issue.

I'm looking for a preventative tool so hopefully this doesn't happen again.  Does Chrome browser have an extension that can be used to prevent this sort of thing from happening?  Can it be defined by website url?  I obviously don't need it to stop and ask me if I'm ok from navigating away from every single page I'm viewing or working on...just the ones I'm typing and haven't posted my comment yet (ie Azure Devops).

Thank you.
OS: Windows 10. I believe version 1803 or 1809.
Browser: Chrome Enterprise
Problem: A website times out, and forces the user to go back to the login screen after a period of time; I believe this behavior is by design.
Proposal: Find a Chrome Extension that will keep the website active while the user is working on another application or steps away from their desk.
Or find a program similar to the ones used to keep the screen saver from activating.
We have a small annoying issue with location detection for some of our remote office workers when using google chrome.  For some reason this site only (no DNS servers on site) are picking up an old location but the location appears to tally with AD site and services.
The other two sites (with DNS Servers local) are picking up differing locations.

Bing works fine.

Ideas as to whether this is DNS, Web filtering, AD sites and services or simply google?

I am getting the following error while opening a url in chrome on my mac

I tried it in other browsers and in cognito mode.

Our environment is Wyse thin clients connecting to an RDS 2012R2 Farm.  The default web browser is IE11. We have a site which won't work with IE so we need to install Chrome. We would like to not present it to users but rather have a shortcut call Chrome which will call the site.

How can we go about that?

We have a transport rule configured to prepend a disclaimer message to all external mail. It works fine in IE, Edge, Firefox, and the Outlook client - but in Chrome, if the incoming message is less than 6 characters, it wraps around the right side of the disclaimer box (see image). It only does this in chrome. I think it's something to do with the HTML code used for the disclaimer but not sure what exactly it would be. Here's the HTML for the disclaimer:
