Web browsers are applications used primarily to display documents, files and media from the Internet, identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that can be a page, image, video or other file. Some browsers require the use of add-ons or extensions to safely render the information they receive; others have systems built into them to perform the same functions.

I am getting .ics reminders from other co workers to my yahoo mail but can't open them.  What can I use to make this convenient in yahoo to view these .ics attachments?

Hello.  I have a website that I have created "Remember Me" functionality.  It works on my desktop browser but does not appear to be working on my iPhone (Safari).  It does work on Chrome on my iPhone but I need it to work in Safari because I want a tile to that page on my phone and, to my knowledge, you have to use Safari to place a tile on an iPhone.  Note that the setting "Block all Cookies" is set to off in my Safari settings.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a web site where the labels on each of the data entry fields on the data entry screens have an HTML link to a help pop-up with information about that particular data entry field. The pop-ups need to be non-modal and the pop-up mechanism needs to allow multiple pop-ups to be open at the same time and not necessarily within the parent viewport. The site is a Classic ASP application which runs under Windows on as variety of web browsers.

The site works fine with IE and Firefox. However, with Microsoft Edge, the pop-up window is about 400 pixels wide (instead of the specified 240 px) and cannot be made smaller by grabbing the right edge of the window and trying to resize it. With Google Chrome, the pop-up window is about the right size, but has scroll bars.

Yeah, I know that each browser's rendering engine is different, but why are the pop-ups for Edge and Chrome not behaving per the HTML spec, which says the minimum window with allowable is 100 px and a window calling parameter string specifying 'no scrollbars'.

What am I missing here? Do I need to build my pop-ups using jQuery UI?

Here is a VB Script code snippet for the typical situation:

<td height="17" valign="middle" class="formlabel">
      <a href="javascript:;" onClick="openBrWindow('../../popups/results_pop/summaryselect_co.htm' ,'', 'top=100,left=550,width=240,height=300,scrollbars=no)">
      Number of Selected Companies</a>:&nbsp;</td>

and here is the JavaScript code to open the window:

Initially when I reboot everything is fast and works well. After a while things slow down dramatically. The chrome browser dies due to a page timeout on various websites. Firefox lasts a little longer but ultimately dies out. I've checked task manager and i've found some reporting high power usage. Malwarebytes reports this often. What could be the cause of this problem

Hi
I'm coding my JavaScript phone games in Brackets. It claims Google Chrome browser must be used for test/preview.
But if I refresh in Safari, it seems to be fine.

I'm using a local XAMPP server for my project web-file-space.
Is there a good/convenient way to publish the files to a real web_space? How do I connect the (lightning) preview button in Brackets IDE properly?

It insists Google Chrome must be installed as a browser. Does this in any way complicate my install of Safari?

Thanks

Hi Experts,

I am using the following input mask that I have found a long time ago
//Source: http://digitalbush.com/projects/masked-input-plugin/#demo

!function(factory) {
    "function" == typeof define && define.amd ? define([ "jquery" ], factory) : factory("object" == typeof exports ? require("jquery") : jQuery);
}(function($) {
    var caretTimeoutId, ua = navigator.userAgent, iPhone = /iphone/i.test(ua), chrome = /chrome/i.test(ua), android = /android/i.test(ua);
    $.mask = {
        definitions: {
            "9": "[0-9]",
            a: "[A-Za-z]",
            "*": "[A-Za-z0-9]"
        },
        autoclear: !0,
        dataName: "rawMaskFn",
        placeholder: "_"
    }, $.fn.extend({
        caret: function(begin, end) {
            var range;
            if (0 !== this.length && !this.is(":hidden")) return "number" == typeof begin ? (end = "number" == typeof end ? end : begin,
            this.each(function() {
                this.setSelectionRange ? this.setSelectionRange(begin, end) : this.createTextRange && (range = this.createTextRange(),
                range.collapse(!0), range.moveEnd("character", end), range.moveStart("character", begin),
                range.select());
            })) : (this[0].setSelectionRange ? (begin = this[0].selectionStart, end = this[0].selectionEnd) : document.selection && document.selection.createRange && (range = document.selection.createRange(),

Hi Folks,

When printing an EE article, code snippets are jumbled up...they look like this:

print-bad
Gustav Brock submitted a bug report on this more than two years ago:
Code blocks of article print view are unreadable

The EE Mod at the time, Modalot, said this:
Ouch. That renders the printout almost useless. I've filed this internally as a major bug.
Not being aware of Gustav's bug report, I submitted one about two months ago:
Print feature at articles does not format code snippets properly

In response to my bug report, the same Mod (Modalot) informed me that it is an old bug and is "still unresolved". Being more than 2-1/4 years old and filed as a "major bug" by a Mod who has been an EE member for more than 10 years, it seems to me that EE is either incapable of, or not interested in, fixing the bug. As a result, I'm looking to the experts here for a workaround. I want to use the workaround to "print-to-PDF" my 63 EE articles and the Steps at my 47 EE video Micro Tutorials. Although that's 110 publications, only some of them have code snippets, so while I would prefer as automated a solution as possible, having to do some manual effort on each one is fine. I'm also fine with a solution that requires other products, such as Microsoft Word, or other commercial software. Thanks for your ideas! Regards, Joe

Hi,

I have a assistance creating a simple web apps that would access one of the MsSQL server in the office.  A colleague mentioned that the best way to set this up is to have a certificate (HTTPS) and all file manipulation should done via an API file; that is, the code the programmer is writing would use the API to access the databases.  The purpose is to not permit the user have access directly to the data files.

Brainstorming with my assistance came up with some concern hope u guys orientate with this.

When the apps on the web links with the API it will create a token that will be used to access the data files.  If someone would click on the "+" sign on chrome it will create another browsing and the token would be in memory.  Can a person with bad intention use this token information and open up in that chrome instance some sort of browser-Sql apps to access the raw data of the database?  Like, if a person right-click on the apps web page and access 'View Page Source', would it give that person sufficient info to access the databases? In other words, that setup recommended above of using an API and Certificate would it protect my office SQL databases?
(I know nothing is 100 percent, but would like your expertise - or what would be your recommendation for setting this up)

I am having this problem with Google Chrome Apps{GCA}. Whenever I create a desktop shortcut using Google Chrome it places the short under the specified path in the screen capture under chrome apps. I don't know why is it called apps when in act it is a shortcut first of all. Can someone first answer this question-Question Number 1.

I was able to click on any of these chrome apps and it opens up no problem till lately when I noticed that all of these apps icons had turned to a blank generic icon and when I click on it it does not open up that particular web site instead it opens a tab page  in Chrome with the Google home page the one with search bar and most commonly visited web sites under the search bar. The Address bar is blank. Can someone tell me why is this happening all of the sudden?-This is Question Number 2.

I just added a shortcut to my desktop just right now, it is Texas.gov and it was correctly placed on my desktop with the correct icon however in the Chrome Apps folder that you can see in the screen capture the icon was not correctly displayed but I was able to click on it and it opened up no problem in Chrome. Why the icon did not display completely and if this shortcut was left alone for sometime will it become like the other shortcuts unusable and could not be open?-This is Question Number 3.

Lastly, When I was uploading these screen captures I saw that the Normal …

I have a web server (2012 R2 / IIS 8.5) hosting both our Sharepoint 2013 site, as well as a separate site for our internal facing asp.net in-house developed applications. These are Webforms apps that interact with a SQL server on-premise. The IIS config looks like this:
Screenshot: IIS
Chrome is our browser of choice throughout the company, but we have an annoying issue with Chrome that when people access pages in the 'Intranet' site from links on the Sharepoint Site, Chrome will throw the ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. It happens intermittently with no pattern whatsoever.

On the client side, sometimes clearing cache / history will help, sometimes 'ipconfig /flushdns' will help, other times nothing will help and the user just simply has to try again later. The Intranet site binds on 443 to the hostname web.ourcompany.com and is not accessible to the outside world by design. Webserver is on an internal IP on a Trusted LAN.

Is there anything I can do from the server side (asp.net code, web.config, etc) for the Intranet site to fix this?

My Google Chrome browser keeps closing randomly on it's own. I would be working on it and have a few tabs open and I go to sleep the next morning I see it closed and when I click on the task bar icon to open it asks me to restore pages from last session or just open the tabs that I have it set to open with. Can someone help me please?

Thank you,

Hiding the toolbar on Chrome?

I am using a Virtual Desktop that's browser based to run Windows 10. It's pretty good, actually. But, if I could ask Chrome to hide the URL and Toolbar, it wold be that much better.

Does such a command exist?

Thanks

Citrix Cloud XenApp Published Google Chrome not allowing multi sessions.
We published a Google Chrome application from an HSD (Hosted Shared Desktop. i.e Windows 2016 server). i.e From the same server VM we published  HSD and Apps.
If a user launches the published Google Chrome application it launches without an issue,
But when it launches from the HSD it will not open. If the user ends the published Google Chrome session, it will open in the HSD.
We are using  FSLogix, it forces the user to launch published applications and virtual desktop to the same server.

Please suggest how to resolve the issue.

Hello Everyone and as always many humble thanks for insights and for your time.
I have a rather silly question, but since I have not done this before I need to ask. LOL
We have a number of INTERNAL appliances and websites that complain (see screenshot) that the website is NOT secure and this is becoming an annoyance to users (having to click through to advanced to bypass the warning). My understanding is that to mitigate this I have to bring up an internal Root Certificate Authority installed on a server (2016), member server and not DC, as well as set GPO to push it out to clients. Does that sound about right? If yes can anyone kindly comment on how they did it (SHA256 I assume, 5 year validity, etc.) - perhaps point to some decent articles - and point out any obvious gotchas that those who tried it experienced. Very much appreciated. Than you.

I researched Csrf and CORS. what I understood was

say User A is authorized to access a site, but it is possible to exploit and execute say javascript from user A's browser to perform unintended actions from his/her browser.

To avoid this, browsers has same origin policy , where If I have a website say in one domain,

www.mywebsite.com and I have some javascript in my web page that makes an AJAX calls to say a api in a different domain, say www.yourdomain.com/api/users or something like this.

browser will see my domain is mywebsite and the call is being made to yourdomain.com and it will block it.

to be able to make a successful call from mywebsite to the api hosted at www.yourdomain.com. the yourdomain server   has to send Access-Control-Allow-Origin in response .

I am not clear on one thing,

so say,

1. if i make an ajax call to the api ( a get call)
2. does the api send the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header in the response header, along with the data for the get call?

Question:

1. is this done in 1 call or is it done in two steps, first browser calls to see if the server sends back
Access-Control-Allow-Origin in the header and then it issues a Get call?

2. if the call is not from the browser , and my backend code calls this api, does the CORS policy apply then?

I apologize for the long questions, I wanted to see if i can explain what i understood before I asked the question.

Hi,

I have some time back register an email along with a telephone number in Google Chrome.  However I have  noticed that when I used that same number in another website, it brings up and places the email I initially used for that telephone number.

So how can I stop relating the number with that email?
(FYI, the work around I am currently using is just when I enter the telephone number and places that initial email, I change it to the email  for that website)
