Experts Exchange would like to become more helpful by adding articles to the Knowledge Base. I would like to know what kinds of articles would be helpful to you?

Fo instance, upalakshitha Has written an article in the Adobe Illustrator Zone about dealing with Unknown Errors.

Jeremyjared74
has written several, including this article that he wrote for the Photoshop zone showing how to Creative a Reflective Effect.

We need a lot more. So what would you like to see? More special effects tutorials? How about preparing art for a printer or for the web? Maybe you would like more time-saver or work flow tips?

Perhaps you would like some of the Experts to write some Advice to Beginners or How to Prepare a Portfolio type articles.

Its your call! What would you find helpful?

Although I never used InDesign, it was part of the full Adobe suite CS3 that I got. I just got done having a contractor put together an e-book for me and she uses InDesign. There is a small error in the book that I thought I could easily figure out, but when I tried to open the file, I was met with 2 error messages, one right after the other.

The first displayed a series of missing plug-ins, which I had no idea what they were talking about since I've never used in design. Since I was given the option of opening the file anyway, I figured-why not?

The next error message listed approximately 25 files that apparently I was missing. They suggested I either get the files or upgrade to the latest version of InDesign. Since I don't plan on using InDesign very much at all, the thought of spending money to upgrade it did not make a lot of sense.

Does anybody have an idea on how and where I can access these missing plug-ins and whether I will still need to then hunt for a few dozen files? I guess I'm trying to determine if the investment of time to do all this is worth correcting one mistake. But, I don't have any idea what time is involved so let me know what you think ... please!

Thanks.

I was creating a flash file that imports swf files by clicking the next button, then it uploads and imports the next swf file. I get to about 50th file and it gives me an error message. Is there a limit to how many swf files it can load? I really seems to error out on the same time and doesn't seem to be an error in the code.

Hi,

I just move to CS4. I did a few pages but when I when I upload them on the server with FTP all the pictures are missing.

It seams I didn't use the right root folder

Any hint ( it seams that I can set up the FTP account from CS4, any hints on that ?)

Thanks

Hey,

I am using fireworks to create a coffee cup. I have some text that i want to give it an appearance that it is wrapping around the cup, like it was apart of it. Any ideas?

I know I can attach to text, but trying to get the perspective of it being "wrapped" around the cup.

Cup
Thanks,

I need an effective algorithm for finding local maxima in my Hough accumulator

the procedure  HoughResultToParameterDynamic(aHoughResult :  THoughResult; Range : Real; var aHoughFinal : THoughFinal ) is showing  my current ideas , looking for the gradient ...  is this the right  way ????

begin
     n := length(aHoughResult);
     m := length(aHoughResult[0]);

     max :=  aHoughResult[0][0];

     for i:= 0 to n -1 do
      for j := 0 to m-1 do
        if aHoughResult[i][j] > max then

Safari, Firefox and Opera don't seem to be displaying .png images.
.jpg images seem to put white where it's meant to be clear.

How do I display images with clear parts so that it works in all web browsers?

Hi All

I am looking to employ a web developer to build me a professional web application. We are building it into the back end of our website so that our reps can process sales on the road, check inventory  schedule events and store visits, record what it is they have been doing and plan to do etc. I need to know what would be the best language to build it in. I want it to be scaleable and professional so that it can have a nice look, and I want it to be so that I dont have to stress about what versions of software it was made in and runs on, it would be nice to be able to install it on either windows or linux servers without having to worry about different versions!

I am trying to create a video project in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.  My main source video is a Skype screen capture from Camtasia Studio.  I can export a short clip from other video processing programs without a problem (like Virtual Dub).  But when I export with Premiere Pro the video is just slightly blurred.  In fact, even the preview window is blurred.  The dimensions are a little weird 272x324 pixels.  But that shouldn't matter.  The funny thing is that I setup the project as a Desktop editing mode and chose those exact dimensions.  However, you can see in the preview window on the right that it leaves a bit of a margin on the right and left.  Maybe that resizing has something to do with the blurriness.  But I don't know how to force it to be the correct size or even know if that is the problem.  I have tried exporting with a bunch of different codecs to no avail.

Hi, I want to read in a CSV file that has data like

"John Smith","27622"
"John Peters","77624"
"Adam Smith","47622"
"Roger Smith","27422"
etc etc

Then select and display one of these "name", "number" results at random.

Can anyone give me a hand? I dont expect the thing done for me but some links to using csv file as arrays would help. cheers

Someone has just suggested to me that I draw out what I want instead of trying to describe in words when it comes to web development.  The thought never occurred to me but now seems obvious.  Obviously, a better scanner configuration is step one.  Step two might be to find something 'designed' for this type of drawing with colored pencils and stuff.  Here is a tool that looks fantastic http://www.pixlr.com/editor/ and I 'think' the images can be saved and shared there.  This is a HUGE plus with regard to the hassle factor of saving and uploading, etc.  Is there anything web tool 'online' that is even better that this for doing hand drawn sketches?

Here is an example of the final result I would like to achieve

I do not have Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
I do have Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver 8 suite (including Fireworks 8, Flash 8, etc.).

What would be your solution?

Thanks for your help.

I have a pdf document formatted to print on a tabloid size paper, two sides. It's like a little flyer of 4 pages, after you fold the tabloid-size paper in half. I would like for it to print on letter size paper, 4 pages, to be able to print easier for my clients that download it. The people that download it will not have much experience, and it needs to be easy to be able to print.

I have the original in Adobe inDesign as well. Maybe I can somehow export it right from there.

I have installed QuarkExpress 7 in XP Mode on Windows 7.  It runs fine, but everytime I start it, it asks me to validate the product key.  It validates and the works fine.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening.  I am pretty sure that it is a registry issue.

Hi-  I'm trying to edit this template.  I removed a header bar, but there are these little triangles on the left side that were part of that decoration that I can't figure out how to get rid of!

They are on the left side at the border:

I've deleted every reference to every image, looked at the css of the bg/container etc but I can't figure out how to get rid of them.  It should be something really simple but it's driving me crazy...any help is greatly appreciated.  I'll attach the css files.  Let me know if you need anything else.  Thanks!

I need to create a small bitmap image, say 100 x 100.  The image just needs to start with white on the left side as the background and incrementally have a blue  background -- like a gradient.

Does anyone know how to do this in Fireworks?  Using Fireworks 8.

Hi guys

I am been designing web pages in different ways, usually i'd purchaseda template and them edited, or start a simple page from scratch and add scipts that i find online, but i was reading that you have to design or create a design in  graphic design software like photoshop or adobe fireworks, them convert that in to html, so you can create a template.

Do you have any reference on what is the right steps to follow when designing a new web site.
How to create web site templates, please comment.

Also, do you know any easy way to learn flash.

please advise
