Web Languages and Standards

Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services using a wide variety of languages and standards, including the familiar HTML, JavaScript and jQuery, ASP and ASP.NET, PHP, ColdFusion, CSS, PHP, Flex and Flash, but also the implementation of a broad list of standards including XML, WSDL, SSDL, VoiceXML and many more.

I found this page:

And want to use

on shared hosting website with hostgator.

I copied the html to a file called index.htm
the css text as a file called index.css
and the js text as a file called index.js

When I go to the website, I get a blank page.  If I show source, I DO see the HTML, so the code is there.

But don't know what I am doing wrong / what I need to do (I really don't know web design. My experience is really front page from YEARS ago : )

I know very little about websites / web site management.

I used to use FrontPage to publish rudimentary websites and to back them up / copy them onto my PC to back them up.

I need to move a website from 1 server to another.  What's an easy (free) app to use these days? Hopefully graphic / GUI not command line.

I set up an FTP account for the server where the files are now. And know the credentials for the new server.

Encountering Reference Error/.JS file unable to load. The goal is to have input from the user displayed in another text field.  Then reset the first input field so that new info can be put in. The code is 97% complete with all HTML requirements including methods and variables in the .js file. The code is in vanilla javascript and HTML. Located below and saved as a .txt for upload compatibility to the site.

Attempted solutions: Initializing the anonymous function to a variable did not work. Looking for a solution ASAP. Plugins/extra frameworks/Jquery cannot be used.
I am trying to put together some pertinent questions in regards to our corporate website, in terms of technology, hosting, support, roles & responsibilities etc. This is to assist in an independent review of the website by a 3rd party from both accessibility, performance, security etc. Can you suggest some relevant 'fact finding' questions that if you needed to understand the setup of a website, and its hosting, and all the various technology components used to develop and maintain the site. It is not something I have ever had responsibility for, so having some queries in order to get a better understanding would be most useful.
Explain how TypeScript fits into Angular?

I coded Angular 4 and am pretty sure I used TypeScript. But, I can not recall exactly where.

Please refresh my memory.

I am trying to quantify risks with the current 'management' and roles & resp[responsibilities of our websites 'content management system' (concrete5). I have never administered a content management system for a website before, but my overall understanding on permissions is there is an admin level role which allows overall control, and then there are author level roles, which allow a number of users to edit content on specific pages or areas of the site. My concern, from a contingency perspective, is we only have 1 officer with admin permissions on the CMS, and the others are only author level roles. The concern being if the 1 current admin was unavailable for example ill health for a few months, what would grind to a halt in terms of the overall CMS management?

Back to the 'I have never administered a content management system for a website before' - if you are a CMS admin, what activities/maintenance/monitoring requires admin level permissions in a solution, or put another way, if nobody logged in as an admin for numerous weeks, what could the knock on effect be? I was also hoping to establish some standard maintenance checklists that the CMS admin has to perform, so if they were unavailable another officer could pick up their duties and would have an easy 'how to guide' on which to follow. Ideally supplemented with formal training.
i am trying to manually write some css that simply involves a banner image with some text overlaid. Turns out it's not a simple as I thought. I'm only onto the second media query, and I'm running into trouble. Mostly because I'm stuck in the intermediate level of css and have not yet advanced to expert.

Here is the page: https://www.stadriemblems.com/products/enamel-pins-test/
The css is here, but you can also find it by viewing the source of the page: https://www.stadriemblems.com/static/css/enamel.css

Right Now it's only going to display in the initial desktop viewport size, so you son't be able to help me if you're on a mobie device.

Here are some problems I am running into right off the bat.

I want the text to be centered vertically. It sort of seems like it's working, but it isn't exactly. See the two image attachments for how it looks on my 1440 monitor and how it looks on my 1080 monitor.

That also leaves the issue of height. I have the height set to be a static 1440px at the largest size, but because there is a background image, and without a set width, there's nothing to expand the div. I have the width set to 100% and the background set at "contain" but I guess all those things aren't compatible. I guess I need some advisement as to what to do in this situation.

Basically, my end result is that for all media queries, I want the image to always be 100% width with a proportional height, and for the text to always be vertically centered and fit …
Can anyone explain the best practices in regards to link labelling specific to usability/accessibility best practices. A 3rd party who do some basic maintenance of our website have numerous image based links on the homepage which simply state "click here". If you hover over the link it does give a bit more detail on where the links takes the user but I am still not sure that is sufficient, and the label itself should be meaningful, but I am trying to emphasis the risk in them using this kind of practice. I have seen these guidelines, but I cannot find anything specific in WCAG to link labelling best practices to assist users with disabilities e.g. visual impairments. I want to draw out the types of user this type of configuration could impact - to make them improve and use more appropriate labelling.

Just saying it 'looks poor' isn't having much weight in the argument.
Need a YouTube based webinar, with chat service

I need to create the MP4 of a live webinar, where I use OBS to live stream myself to YouTube, with my green screen replaced with a professional looking image. But I need one to many chat services.

So, how much I do this?

I wish I could use a comprehensive webinar solution, but they either do not support the green screen technology (WebinarJam) OR they are too expensive (GoToWebinar).

So, my solution is to use:

1) OBS for green screen removal
2) Live OBS stream to YouTube
3) YouTube handles audio

But I need a chat service my attendees can use to submit comments and questions.

Given the below soapclient - how can I a) check the version of tls that it is using, and b set it to 1.2 if it is not using that already?  I had assumed the browser I was using would control that side of things, but just want to double check!

$url = "https://www.SOMEURL/interface/api/report.asmx?wsdl";
//Create the client
$client = new SoapClient($url);
$datetimestamp = date("YmdHis");

I have a web page that displays and plays my voice messages stored elsewhere on the web. I am having a problem with the Chrome built in audio control running in an iframe. Here is what it looks like:audio control in iframeHere is the code:
<a href='https://api.twilio.com" . $recording->uri . "' target='newframe'>Play</a>
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='150' width='300'></iframe>

Open in new window

As you can see, there is a big black area above the audio control.

I can wrap the iframe in a div to round the corners:audio control in iframe with round cornersCode:
<div style='display:inline-block;height:150px;overflow:hidden;border-radius:27px>
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='150' width='300'></iframe>

Open in new window

But if I try to reduce the height of the iframe and div, the audio control just gets smaller and I loose the time slider"shorter iframeCode:
<div style='display:inline-block;height:54px;overflow:hidden;border-radius:27px>
<iframe name='newframe' frameborder='0' height='54' width='300'></iframe>

Open in new window

I tried just reducing the height of the div or iframe without reducing the other but then the audio control is out of the frame.

Any idea of how to reduce the height of the iframe without changing the audio control?

I am thinking of using the HTML5 audio control instead (as in the sites below) but I am not sure how to load and then play a new message from the <a> link.

Hello experts,

I am looking for a free or paid software in order to build database/table/api schema among my various production, testing environments.
I tried yEd but it is not very practical for me.
Could you please advice on this.
Thank you very much in advance for your feedback.

Hi everybody.
I really don't understand how to change the overlay background color in this template: https://colorlib.com/preview/#amado.
I mean: if you hover the mouse on products, a dark semi-transparent overlay appears. The template uses a scss file. In the index a fiola called style.css is linked, but that file is empty and with developer tools I see all styles are set in  style.scss, but I'm not able to find the value that I have to change. I confess I'm totally new to sass, scss.
I post here the scss file:
@import 'theme_color';
@import 'variables';
@import 'mixin';
@import 'responsive';

/* [Master Stylesheet v-1.0.0] */

    url('../fonts/helvetica_neu_bold-webfont.woff') format('woff');
    font-weight: normal;

Hi E's,
I want overlay two images in a responsive project. That not easy when we working with CSS position relative.
So, because that, for overlay two images, one will be a background-image, and other is a normal image inside the div, like you can view here:
<div class="row" style="margin-top: 200px;">
        <div class="col s10 l4 offset-s1 offset-l4" id="fundo" style="background-image: url(imagem/MVC-610X.JPG); max-width: 1024px; max-height: 768px;">
        <img src="imagem/MVC-611X.JPG" class="responsive-img" alt="" style="opacity: 0.5">

With the above code, I can overlay two images (background and div).
I try to found a solution for animate the background image to opacity 0.
With follow code, I try a solution, but all the elements set to opacity 0, include the image inside the div:
$('#fundo').animate({"opacity": 0}, 5000 );

I know the reason why all the elements set to opacity 0, I try to search a solution in the Internet, and I don't find anything related, so I come to EE's to try to get a solution for:
How I create a Jquery animation from opacity 1 to opacity 0, just for the background image, preserve the image in the div?

The best regards, JC

I want to invalidate my form using jQuery/Javascript.

User enters date field (having id# vhdnPickUpDate) and time field (having id# vPickUpTime)

User should not be able to submit the form if date time is less than 4 hrs which user has entered.

Current time is in field hdnDateTime from where date time needs to compare.

I need to know the logic for this.
How to invalidate the form if datetime is less than or equal to 4 hrs.
Also, accordingly date field needs to be highlighted.

Kindly advise me the solution.

Below is the logic required and details.

var form = $("form");

hdnDateTime= "04/08/2018 07:30:00"

vPickUpTime="5:30 AM"

var dtTime = vhdnPickUpDate +" "+ vPickUpTime=;
var dtTimeMinus4Hrs = dtTime - 4 hrs;

if(hdnDateTime <= dtTimeMinus4Hrs)

invalidate form
Highlight field with id = Item_PickUpDate
// Kindly advise me the solution

if (form.valid()) {

}else {

Hi Experts

Could you point if  phpCAS that uses API for authenticating users against a CAS server (WebSSO CAS) could be integrated at an existing Codeigniter project?

CAS - Central Authentication Server

I'm implementing a SSO (Single Sign-On)  funcionality to allow a web app conexion based on user id and  correspondent user's data obtained from LDAP (AD-Active Directory)

I'm planning to implement the SSO functionality at PHP Codeigniter's site index.php.

Thanks in advance!
Hi E's, I just want to known if my file robots.txt is well written.
The objective is allow all my pages, but disallow 12 url's, for all agents:
User-agent: *

Disallow: /politica-de-privacidade
Disallow: /comprar-zara-lisboa
Disallow: /melhores-saldos-2018-lisboa
Disallow: /temas/viagem

The big question is, the "Allow: /" should be at the top or bottom?

I am gearing up to a new role here at work... I've been the main IT guy for 17 years, and in the first few of those years I did quite a bit of PHP coding for our website. Since that time, we've grown a lot and have had a full time backend web developer (leaving the company in October) who is a wizard with PHP, MySql, Symfony. Those are the core MVC languages we use in the backend... our front end person uses Twig, React, etc but I won't have to do much with that except pass her data she can display whoever she wants.

Where are a couple good courses I can take to get up to speed with PHP these days? From working with our existing backend guy, he's walking me through Symfony a lot but I've notice he is hand-coding a ton of PHP / MySQL stuff and I realized that is where I need to concentrate learning right now. Any good resources out there, or is Udemy the end all be all. If so, which Udemy course most applies to my needs. Thanks much for any input.
How to read Child tags under parent tag with name space in C#?
<ns:tag1></ns tag1>

How to read child 1 tag?
I am able to till ns:tag2 but unable to read any further tag.
var child = parentElement.Descendants(ns + "tags").First();
This provides list of child tags, but unable to further read it.
Tried a few things like:
and child.Element("child1") (with all possible sub functions)
Even tried to reload the xml from tag2 in XElement again but that threw invalid xml exception.
but all are throwing null pointer exceptions.
In a meeting we were told that it is possible to know or identify if a user hit a specific page and it’s contents even if the page is locked.  We understand that when a page has a lock it means SSL and that the data to/fro from the site to computer is encrypted.  Is this possible that even thought the page has a lock, there is  a way to identify the encrypted page that the user visited and identify the contents, if it has form or just regular page?
I am exploring xml and am trying to write nested XML elements like this in Windows Powershell:

I am completely new to writing XML as well as using powershell, so if you can keep the training wheels on with your explanation/example, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Experts,

Could any one tell me what does testing a website to be compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA involve?

Are there any curses for this?

What is the going rate for this?

I'm also wondering, what are the types of assistive devices covered, so that I can recruit the right persons with disabilities (myself included ), and what to test for. The client is asking for testers with disabilities.

Thank you.
