Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services using a wide variety of languages and standards, including the familiar HTML, JavaScript and jQuery, ASP and ASP.NET, PHP, ColdFusion, CSS, PHP, Flex and Flash, but also the implementation of a broad list of standards including XML, WSDL, SSDL, VoiceXML and many more.

I'm currently using Visual Studio Code. How can I use Visual Studio Code along-side my web browser to code in real-time and see the changes in real-time? Brackets have "Live in Preview", not seeing this in Visual Studio Code.

Hi,

My document suite for a web app contains a HELPFUL HINTS doc, which provides general info about the application.

I need to list certain system requirements/restrictions. Right now, I have only one (min. browser width), but this list could grow over time.

What's the best title for this section?
System Requirements (As I said in the title.)
Limitations (Meh.)
???

Thanks,
Steve

PS-Hope I'm not overthinking here...I think part of my brain's still on the holiday weekend. :)

Is there any free online Static QR Code Generator available?

Static means the QR Code will always work after a certain period of time.

And basically I would need it to link to a google map URL.

Tks

Can someone explain to me how they made the clouds animate in the background? What tools were possibly used? And the best method to try and recreate it?

Hi, I'm using nunjucks, so every time I use gulp nunjucks, every page gets rewritten. So GIT sees that as a modification, and lists them as modified.

Just to be clearer, I have the GIT repo as the entire folder. Within the folder I have> pages, templates, templates/partials, SCSS, CSS, img, and also the pages that result from a gulp nunjucks.

I think what I want is to exclude those pages, the pages that are created, because they all get written again with the command.

Does any of this make sense? Should I put them into a different branch or something? I'm really new at GIT. Thanks for any and all advice.

When scrolling down the document in an iframe, and reach bottom, if keep spinning down the mouse wheel, the parent document starts scrolling. Browsers call it a "dispatch" of wheel event to parent. So it's not bubbling, as it's not within the same document. A new wheel event is created on parent.

Can this "dispatch" be prevented? How? (I use plain JavaScript.)
Is there any sample script available?

While designing for a sign-up process, I'd like to be able to show a progress indicator dictating how many steps are in the process, total. Right now, I'm using little dots across the top of the screen that "fill in" as you're making progress during the page-by-page sign-up.

My question is in regard to a particular step that could extend or contract the number of remaining steps because a step is added or taken away. It feels weird that, in the middle of a 4-step process, a choice made on Step 2 would then show 5 dots on the following page.

Is there an alternative method to make this feel less strange? Or is the idea for a progress indicator made null because of how this sign-up process works?

I'm writing structured data code for my breadcrumb and ran into a question about the position number of the item.

For Seattle:
1. US-->2. WA--->3. King County--->4. Seattle

This is my breadcrumb for Seattle, which is in position 4.  The numbers are not displayed to the users of course, but in the code behind for structured data, the numbers are required by Google.
"itemListElement": [{
    "@type": "ListItem",
    "position": 1,

Open in new window

However Canada doesn't have counties for their cities.  So on my Calgary page, the breadcrumb naturally will not show a "county" level.  but when it comes to the structured data code behind, which is appropriate, is calgary in position 3 or position 4?

1.  Canada-->2. AB-->4. Calgary

1.  Canada -->2. AB -->3. Calgary

Since all the US cities have the city at the fourth position, I wondered if I should "skip" a level for my pages on Canadian cities, but I'm not sure what the best practice is.  Should I code my structured data to put canadian cities in position 4, or position 3?

Hi all,
I have just installed a Thawte SSL certificate on my server for one of my websites. Its seems et up correctly, however, now the site does not work correctly. It is not a Joomla or WordPress site but does make use of some external assets such as fonts etc. Is this causing the issue?

I am looking into Webpack 2 Code Splitting for a project but I'm not sure if I understand how code splitting works.

In my project I have 2 features.

Each feature consists of 4 or 5 files so the code for each feature has several javascript files where the code lives.

These javascript files are NOT ES6 Modules, just standard javascript files with code.

With Webpack 2 Code Splitting I intend to break all these files into 2 groups so that can load them on demand when needed.

So, what I'm thinking of doing with it is ...

1. Project Loads just the core

2. On demand the features will load when needed.

Would code splitting work in this circumstance and is this what it's for?

I am having little difficulty in resolving one URL redirection in remote location. Example: My website is https://temp.company.local/dev/rel and it's accessible through Remote host. However, when user requests for https://temp.company.local, he is getting redirected to Apache manager page which I don't want. Can you please provide a solution to fix this problem so that only proper URL will work and half will not redirect to tomcat manager page?
Just to update I'm not using IIS.

Best Regards,
Abhi

I'm trying to debug an issue on our website.  My question is if you look at my example (from Chrome ) and the "Cannot read property 'setRequestHeader' of undefined" error, does the order of the output mean that the top most file identified is the culprit for the error? The error links to this line in the file:
jqXHR.setRequestHeader(window.__antiforgery.headerName, window.__antiforgery.token)

Open in new window

Also if anyone has any advice on how to debug this issue, it would be highly appreciated because I have no idea!

Thanks!

I was given the follwing vendor pixel for tracking:
https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/viewthroughconversion/960526911/?guid=ON&amp;script=0&amp;data.ecomm_user=1

Open in new window

But the rendered pixel comes out as:
//googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/viewthroughconversion/960526911/?guid=ON\u0026amp;script=0\u0026amp;data.param1=1

I'm assuming that I could just make "&amp" an "&" but also having the semi-colon confuses me?!?!? Any insight into a query string structured like this?

Thanks!

My question is about the mobile stylesheet.

Right now, when the screen resizes, the menus are shown vertically.
I want the menus to be horizontally over one or more lines.

screengrab - the menus should be over one or more lines
I have changed the code in such a way that the navigation menu (all <a> anchors) have their display set to inline-block but that doesn't work. What in the code preventing the navigation bar from not being shown horizontally over one or more  lines?

#navigation a

I do not get it.

Please explain if you can .

Hello All;

I have used a lot of different BBCode type of scripts.
This one I like, as it is very simple to use and implement what I need for my tags.
The issue that I am having, is when you select an area and click the button.
It wraps the selected text with the BBCode.
However, it then jumps to the bottom of the textarea.

Any incite on this would be great.
Thanks, Carrzkiss

Hi Experts,

I'm a web developer, been developing websites in .NET/SQL Server for over ten years now, and a prospective client wants to fly me out to corporate for an interview. I'm self taught, and am aware I have big holes in my knowledge of web technology (i.e. various transfer protocols on the web, etc.) , and wonder if anyone would recommend a crash course in web development of the main areas I should have a strong grasp of. I understand OO and coding principles of course, but without a BS degree, I don't know what I don't know. Any good recommendations on getting up to speed fast?

Thanks,
Steve
