A web server refers to the software that helps to deliver web content that can be accessed either through the Internet or through an intranet. The primary function of a web server is to store, process and deliver web pages to clients. The communication between client and server takes place using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The most common use of web servers is to host websites, but there are other uses such as gaming, data storage, running enterprise applications, handling email, FTP, etc.

Bankrupt Company's Data Resold on Craigslist

Heads up for any members who have ever purchased through NCIX. Looks like their server equipment was sold off without being scrubbed.
This is a good reminder about letting a third party store your credit card data.

They can sell the data to any company that continues the business (as a whole)  in one part.  (restart of business with new owners)...
(that is data that will still be used for what it was provided for.... ) Data is NOT provided for anything else then conducting business with THIS company.   (If EU customers are part of the data GDPR is important here, or even if non-EU citizens did business from the EU).
So there is no license on the data for a lot of different things.

The new  owner of the data ALSO inherrits this license/restriction on the data is not that  the data is free for all after it has been flogged off... (In legal theory...,  i am afraid it will be a free for all in practice).

Create a reliable backup. Make sure you always have dependable copies of your data so you can restore your entire system or individual files.

I'm glad to see Liquidweb is a new topic here. They have been my web host of choice since about 2008 or 9 and I have twenty some posts here on why I like LW https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28434976/recommend-a-hosting-provider.html#a40069498

They completely helped me from migration from a previous host and through several critical server upgrades VPS -> dedicated windows server 2003->2008->2012.  Whenever I have an issue, the person that takes the ticket is friendly and very knowledgeable. Other hosting services I have used, a help call or ticket starts at a low level and has to get escalated. At LW, 99% of the time, the person that you initially contact is the person that fixes the issue be it by submitted ticket or a panicky phone call.

One of the add on services I use for my dedicated server is continuous back up on my SQL Server drive. I have client billing systems on this server and one time did encounter a crash. Because of the continuous back up, no data was lost and everything was restored in quick manner.

Here are a set of amazing SSL tools: https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-certificate-tools.html

These tools were very useful for me for verifying certificate on any site, validating the Certificate Signing Requests, and more. A great site totally based on OpenSSL hence trust worthy.
