Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system featuring the "universal application architecture" (UAP); apps can be designed to run across multiple devices with nearly identical code, including PCs, tablets, smartphones, embedded systems, Xbox One, Surface Hub and HoloLens. Windows 10 also includes a virtual desktop system, a window and desktop management feature called Task View, the Microsoft Edge web browser, support for fingerprint and face recognition login, voice-based search (Cortana), new security features for enterprise environments, and DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.0 to improve the operating system's graphics capabilities for games.

My computer tech installed IIS on my Windows 10 PC.
Does that mean IIS 10.0 server is installed ?
If it isn't, whats the best download for a 64 bit machine ?
I do see that InetPub is present.

Hello,

I’m running vSphere 6.7 and a VM which is my SCOM Server is having high CPU and I/O. How can I report performance on this server and attempt to isolate the service for which is pegging resources? How would an expert approach this scenario?

Thank you so much!

What’s the best and secure way to setup a web server within a DMZ? A couple of simple external sites and sql server. Should I put a DC RODC inside DMZ or just open up ports to sync AD? or should I not have it connected to AD?

I ran this script. It contacts AD but does not respond with results. It just waits for another entry.

C:\Save> Get-ADUser -Filter {mail -like 'emailaddress'} -Properties * | fl workid
C:\Save> _

It looks like above

I am running Windows 10 and Office 365 on my two office laptops (both are pretty new Lenovo laptops).  All of a sudden, Outlook won't open on one of my computers.  If it's already open, it stops getting new emails - and if it's not already open it won't open at all.  I need to reboot the computer, and then everything works fine.  Any idea what's causing this, and how I can fix it?  There aren't any error messages to give me a hint.

Thanks,

Phil

Bought a computer with windows 10 pro on it.  Tried to install something and it was in Windows 10 S mode.  How do I get out of S mode and how did this happen.  I have purchased many computers with 10 Pro on it and this is the first time it has happened.

I've not encountered this happening in my best recollection.  What would  cause a Windows 10 Pro workstation to switch from Static IP addressing to "Automatic / DHCP"?
Is this a common occurrence?
I can imagine but I've just not seen it happen - at least in a very long time!
So, causes are important as this disrupted a number of things on the network.
One might expect foul play if there are few occurrences of this.

Windows 10 issue on a HP laptop.
Tried all sorts.. looks like the Windows installation is truly screwed. I get orange and white lines when I set this as the boot after fixing mbr.
Cannot Repair.
Cannot Reset.

sfc / scannow been running for 1 day and says 6 months to go. so had to abandon.
chkdsk runs through.. but still no joy.

Really tried a lot of the usual.

So I fancy making a new partition and installing a new windows .. and then I can view and possibly just recover data.

HOWEVER.

diskpart
detail vol shows freespace 31GB (this is true).

However list disk shows 2300MB... I recovered 1GB>

I wanted to resize this volume.

A shrink=desired just tells me the shrink size is to big even on 1GB now.

How can I resize the vol and get 30GB back for a new install.. (THAT MIGHT STAY)?

I get the Disk is saying its full as I have volumes.. but I want to resize this 447GB Disk down. And I KNOW theres 30GB free.

All this is done in a Windows 10 recovery USB boot as I cannot safe mode or anything... I cannot even get to those repair options now after trying to run chkdsk etc..

Please advise.

Thanks

Are there any security issue anyone know about with Microsoft QuickAssist?
Is there a security drawback to using QuickAssist that is built into  Windows 10?

How can I disable or Hide altogether Window Explorer - Manage - Drive Tools, or at the very least the Format Option for Standard Users.  I have no issue with it appearing for Admins, but why would MS make that display for Standard User accounts?!

Hi,
I have a laptop windows 10 version 1803.
I want to update to version 1909 using the media creation tool.
I did it last time, but forgot “some activities”.

When I enable the media creation tool, it starts upgrading… takes a long time; I believe there is a question : “ACCEPT THE LICENSE AGREEMENT .. THEN, KEEP THE FILES” (as if we are installing the windows 10 from FRESH).
OUESTION: That makes me “CONFUSED or NOT SURE”; am I right that I will meet the above question and that is the right way to reach the version 1909?

Thanks,
tjie

I run Windows 10 on a Lenovo laptop.   I recently got a security camera that saves events as an *.DAV file.  None of the numerous video programs on my computer can read the files (Cyberlink, NERO, Movies and TV, etc.).  Is there a conversion program out there (paid is fine) that can handle these files?

Thanks,

Phil

Hello all;
Windows 2016 Server CORE
Installing = SQL Server 2019

Windows Installer was not running - started it

I took the configuration.ini file from the SQL Server setup I did earlier.
I edited it to work with Server Core.
Here is the following edit.

Dell Latitude 7490
OS: Windows 10 version 1909

Issue: An external LCD does not show a picture when connected to the HMDI to VGA adapter.

In Intel display properties the second monitor appears.

In Device Manager, Monitor, the second LCD appears

I installed updated video drivers and will see what will happen, soon.

My next step is to just  remove the Intel drivers and see if the Microsoft drives allow me to see a picture on the external LCD.

I confirmed that the second LCD or monitor is appearing in Windows 10 display properties: I see two squares, one for each LCD.
Since the laptop is remote, I did not bother to make the external LCD the default monitor
I did not close the lid to see if the picture show on the external LCD

The 19 inch LCD is working correctly.

Changing the resolution of the external LCD did not help: I tried Windows 10 recommendation resolution
Note: Windows 10 scaling and layout is set to 100% ( I suspect this could be the root cause of the problem)

Other things I can try is to update Windows 10, may it is a bug in Windows 10 version 1903.

I will have to update the BIOS and run a hardware diagnostic test, before contacting Dell to…

I have 2 remote desktop icons on my desktop named:  Arizona_Office.rdp and Florida_Office.rdp  Both are connected simultaneously.

When I create a 3rd remote desktop icon and the "computer field' is set to 192.168.1.35,
how does Remote Desktop know which office network I am trying to connct to?

In other words:
will it try to connect to computer 192.168.1.35 on the Arizona_Office network
or
will it try to connect to computer 192.168.1.35 on the Florida_Office network?

or
What do I need in the "computer field" that can tell it what network to connect to:
for example:  \\Arizona_Office\192.168.1.35  or \\Florida_Office\192.168.1.35

or
do I forget about using the IP address, and use the computer name and domain name:
\\AccountingPC.Arizona_Office.local or \\AccountingPC.Florida_Office.local

I want to find a low-cost NAS that can take the place of an external USB drive being used for Acronis backup images.  I'm told that a NAS can be set up on a LAN as a network share, but never having worked with one I don't know how that will be done.  I read the documentation for a Synology DS120j, but ALL it said at the end of the setup guide was that the "NAS is now online and detectable from a network computer".  But I'm thinking what I really want is a way to configure the NAS with a share name on the LAN--just as you can do with a share on a PC.

Is there a good low-cost NAS that will let me do such a configuration--or am on "the wrong track" here?  TIA

I have an issue with Windows 10 Home and Office 365 software. It randomly uninstalled or removes itself from windows 10.
This happened about 3 times in a row and i decided to do fresh Win 10 install with only Office365 as the other software installed.
It worked fine for 3 weeks and it literally has removed itself again.
There is no entry in program and features no files in program files folder. The only other weird thing that happen at the same time is that Chrome reset itself.
Removed all bookmarks.
There was no Internet Security program or any other software installed.
i'm running out of ideas.

perHello All;

I have just run into a situation where I cannot find any information on it.
Installation of SQL Server 2019 WITHOUT installing Data Quality Services
If I uncheck it, it unchecks EVERYTHING.
So, the question is...
How do you install the SQL Server Database Engine, without installing the Data Quality Services

The reason:
I am installing the "SQL Server Failover Cluster" on the 2016 Desk Experience Server.
After this, I will be installing "Add node to a SQL Server failover cluster" on the 2016 CORE Server.

From my experience, adding the NODE fails every time I have tried to install it on the core.
A person posted but without proof that the Data Quality Services does not run on Server Core.
(This is my thread about the issue)

I am building my SQL Servers Clusters from scratch, and want to get the Core servers running SQL Server database engine.
And whatever I install on the Main SQL Cluster, will filter down into the NODE installations.
So I need to be cautious about what gets installed to make sure everything is going to go smoothly on this build.
These are the typical features that get installed on the NODE's
SQLEngine, SQLEngine\Replication, SQLEngine\FullText, SQLEngine\DQ
So please, if anyone has any information on this TA or the other TA, please let me know.

Thanks.
