My Outlook 2013 running on Win 7 stopped performing search.

I read lots of help articles and rebuild the index but no use.

I have got two hotmail profiles and three GoDaddy profiles on the same Outlook.

My main account is my hotmail, which is the one not working.
Outlook 2016, Windows 7. Outbox folder is showing it has "1" email. When you click on the folder to view the contents, the "view" pane is empty, except "We didn't find anything to show here.". Outlook sends and receives email normally. Outlook is connected to an Exchange server. Not sure if the problem is information Outlook is getting from the Exchange server, or Outlook is just screwing up itself. I have not tried scanpst.exe because the data file is .OST. Do you think wiping the .OST file and letting Outlook rebuild it might work? Thanks very much for your help.
I am having a great deal of trouble in virtualizing a Windows 7 installation of a physical machine.  The machine is an Intel NUC Skull Canyon.  It has two NVMe drives.  One runs Windows 7, and the other runs Windows 10.  I was able to get the Windows 10 installation working on a VM (which is of no matter), but I can't seem to get Windows 7 to boot.  It will start loading Windows, but it reboots, and recommends running startup repair, which is not able to help.  Is there any hope of getting this going?  I really need to virtualize the PC because it is running software that I purchased, but the companies are no longer in business, and I don't have the setup files any longer.  They have dependencies and license files (or perhaps registry data) that need to be registered/put into place.  I have tried doing this with Disk2vhd as well as VMWare Converter Standalone, and using VirtualBox or VMWare. I am happy to use whichever product, as long as it will work properly.  Thanks in advance.
I want to have a bootable USB flash drive for windows 7 and 10. All the "solutions" that I find are for a bootable setup. I want a bootable system, not setup. Is this possible?
I have upgraded one of my computers from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro using the "free" upgrade after making an install disk using the Media Creation Tool. The install went fine, but now the Activation window says that it could not reach the activation servers & to make sure I have a connection to the internet. My internet connection is fine. So I tried the "Change  Product Key. That went fine but came back with the same error message about the servers. This has gone like this for the past 2 days. I would think someone as big as M$ wouldn't let their servers be down for over 48 hrs.

Has anyone else had this problem?? I am running tests so that I can upgrade 5 PC's in office that needs it. Thanks!
I have just run a new vulnerabilty scan and one of the clients has come back with an Xserver warning that it accepts connections  from any client.  I know what xserver is and the risk it poses.  My question is, how do I configure it/restrict connections?
Windows 10 UNC Hardening

Starting with MS15-011 you can enable UNC Hardening in Windows 7.
Windows 10 has this feature enabled by default.

Found a lot of hints what kind of problems (logon script, GPO etc) it can cause and "best practice" is  to disable it.

I have the same problem described (no access to SYSVOL, therefore no policy) but only sometimes. Maximum 10% of our systems show to apply policy after reboot with "access denied" error 1058.
Not Always, not every system.
Setting RequireMutualAuthentication = 0 for SYSVOL and NETLOGON fixes the GPO Problem for all systems.

Anyway I don't like the idea to disable a feature that increases security!

Any idea what causes "Mutual Authentication" to fail? Or at least where to start looking? Log files?

Windows domain is Server 2012 R2.
I noticed I have Windows Defender (there's an obsure option under
"All Programs" which shows up as something like "Antivirus scan")
on my Win 7 Home PC.

Is this the built-in Windows Defender for Win 7?  Don't recall I ever
install it

When Win 7 goes EoSL (ie MS don't release patch for it) in Jan 2020,
can I still click "Check for Updates" to get the latest Defender's
signatures?   Till when MS will continue to offer the signatures

Does Win Defender offer  "on-access" protection or only "on-demand"
(ie has to manually trigger scan)?
Hi Team,

For a command line script i need get the latest subfolder name and insert it as part of a path

currently i have the following:
"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe" "-Command" "if((Get-ExecutionPolicy) -ne 'AllSigned') {Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope Process Bypass}; $scriptname='script.ps1'; $pathtoFile = 'C:\Windows\ProPatches\Installation\InstallationSandbox#' + (Get-Date -format 'yyyy-MM-dd-T-hh-mm-ss') + '\' + $scriptname; & $pathtofile"

I have several PCs running Windows 7 Enterprise. Some will not accept a Windows 10 upgrade. I'm trying not to replace all of the machines. I've upgraded RAM where necessary. Shouldn't I be able to run a clean Windows 10 Pro install without issue? Some systems seem to hand on the upgrade or full install. It reverts back to Windows 7.
I am trying to install OneDrive onto a Windows 7 machine and during sign in, the screen goes white and prevents the entering of a password.  I tried restarting the computer and reinstalling the app.  Everything is to no avail.  Is there a way to sign in via command prompt or another way?
Does anyone know if:
We heard that you can upgrade from win 7 pro to win 10 pro and the license would carry over as active. it this legitimate and considered a valid upgrade?
Thank you
Running MySql version 5.7 on Windows 7 Pro.  I am learning MySql .
My goal is to put the MySql password into a file so I don’t have to put the plain text password into batch files I want to invoke .There is much I do not understand about the relationship between MySql and Windows permissions.

Before executing mysql_config_editor, I would manually navigate to the
cd “Program Files\Mysql\Mysql Server 5.7\bin    folder
   and then type             mysql
I would get a prompt for password.  I enter the password and the MySql command prompt appears.

I read about mysql_config_editor.  So I typed:
  mysql_config-editor  set –user=root –password
The   mysql_config-editor prompted me for a password .  I entered the password.

Then I navigated to the bin folder as above.
I typed          mysql and this time the mysql command prompt immediately appears, no prompt for password.
The mysql 5.7 manual says the   mysql_config-editor  will create a file called mylogin.cnf  .  I have searched all the drives on my Windows 7 computer and cannot find this file.  Yes, I am logged in as administrator, I have full rights.

So I thought now, when I execute a Windows batch file,  I just need to enter the –user=root command in the batch file  and MySql will log in as user root without any need for me to provide a password.  And this works as long as I am logged in as administrator.

Q1.)  I cannot find any file called mylogin.cnf .  I cannot find any file …

My laptop which is a about three years old, (Dell, I5, 4GB RAM, 300GB, 87GB free) is behaving strangely when I type.  The cursor jumps to ANYWHERE on the document causing untold errors in the text if I am not careful. Runs Windows 7 Pro.

Is it more LIKELY a Hardware or a Software issue?  The Event Viewer shows "hundreds" of errors emanating from the Event Control Manager.

I like Windows 7 Pro.  Support for it will end soon.   I have 6 computers all networked running Windows 7.
I use Media Center .  I understand there is no such program available in Windows 10.

I hope I am posting my question in the correct forum.

Window 10 Pro upgrades seem to cost about $150 each.  I’d like to avoid paying $1,050 to upgrade my computers.  I am not a rich person.

My questions:
Q1.) I’m wondering if anyone has installed Virtual box on their Windows 7 computers and use the Virtualbox / Linnux guest for all Internet use.  I searched the Experts Exchange for this information but could not find any relevant posts.

Q2.) What was your experience Virtual box onto my Windows 7 and install a version of Linnux in Virtual box and use the Virtual box / Linnux software for all Internet searches, etc?

Q3.) What version of Linnux did you use?

Q4.) What is a better solution?

Thank you for your help.
Hi Experts,
What is the easiest way to search for a word within the contents of files in a specific folder, including sub folders?
Would prefer not to install software or change pc settings, as this is needed for a one time only.

We started upgrading our servers to server 2019, and things are going very well.  I h ave one last server that is on 2008 R2 - it was a domain controller, and I decommissioned it.

However, this server is our KMS host.  I think I need to keep it around for awhile until we get rid of the 30 +/- windows 7 clients that are being activated by this KMS host.

I guess I have a few questions, but you might need to know the following facts before you can answer:

1. We have Win 7 clients using KMS for activation - the KMS host is running server 2008 R2
2. We have Win 10 Pro clients that are using OEM licenses (Eventually would like to use KMS or AD activation...)
3. we have Win Svr 2019 and a few Win Svr 2016  servers that are using MAK keys

It also looks like Microsoft has done away with the KMS activation methods in favor of Active Directory activation;  or are the two synonymous?

I guess it boils down to a few stupid questions:  Is it possible to use the KMS Host key that we currently have on server 2019 or 2016 and continue activating my Win 7 clients, either by using KMS or AD Activation?

Is it possible to get a new KMS/AD Activation key that will work for newer server versions that can activate Win 10 and win 7 clients?

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration in answering my questions.
I have a dell 6500 lattitude and the O S is win 7   enterprise ediition,  64 bit and someh0w the backspace  key is disabled.  I have tried everything incl hitting the Ctrl  or alt keys  and it does not work.  Can this be fixed in the OS, or how can it be remedied? thank u
Running MySql version 5.7 on Windows 7 pro.  I am not a MySql expert.

Before I posted this question I searched Experts-Exchange for mysql_config_editor.  No results were found.

I am trying to use mysql_config_editor .  I have read the information in the v5.7 manual .  The commands shown  in the manual do not work.

First, the manual shows mysql_config_editor running from a shell command.  I have found I have to manually start the mysql command line to get mysql_config_editor to run.

The manual says to print the information in mylogin.cnf I should type:
  print –all

This does nothing.  So I am confused and the MySql manual is not helping me.

 -  I want to start mysql from a Windows batch file .  I do not want to put the password in plain text in the batch file.  The 5.7 manual says the password can be put into the mylogin.cnf file.  May be this is the wrong thing to do.   Where should I put the password ?

- I searched all of my drives.  I cannot find a mylogin.cnf file.  May be I’m trying to edit a nonexistent file. What is the name of this file in a Windows installation?

- In what file would you put the password?
Trouble creating a mirror image on SSD...

Im trying to create a mirror image of an existing 1TB hard drive onto a new SSD (also 1TB) have done this before with macrium and it went well.. I have the SSD and HDD connected on sata ports, however this time around ive got stuck..

Machine is Win7 (64bit) and the existing drive is partitioned into a C and D drive of equal size, so far so good...

When i first ran up macrium (free version), noticed that the D drive was 75% used whereas the C had much less data on it, so i wanted to adjust the partition somehow (this might be where ive gone wrong), so initially i used macrium to adjust the C partition down in size by 100GB, but this seemed to leave an unused area of 100MB which i couldnt add to the D partition (or at least i couldn't find a way to do this).  Started macriums mirror function in the hope it might spot the spare space and allow you to add to the D partition, but this didn't seem to work, so i went back and increased the partition by all the extra free space you could select using drive properties/tools. Seemingly back to where i started (maybe!).

I now ran the mirror and it started copying the partitions okay, got thru the first 2, and started on the 3rd partiton (C drive), then part way thru (always at 3% after it perhaps has copied the FAT, it pops a "Clone failed error 9 read failed.." message (interestingly this is read rather than write so would this be from the old HDD or SSD?.

The error always…
I have this computer running windows 7 pro and wanting to run updates but it is determined to download and install windows 10, which we do not want. We only want it to run other updates.  How do we stop it from downloading and installing windows 10?
Hi Experts,
How can I get to see the latest file I downloaded?
When I sort by date modified, it displays all folders first and after that many files, not necessary in order...

Please what is the solution to migration windows 7 to windows 10 with copy the date of the user?

Thanks for your advise.
