For some reason, I am not able to do copy and paste on my Windows 10 desktop anymore.  I have tried to run echo off | clip to clear my clip board but it still does not.

Please advise if someone knows how to fix.

We have a 1000 windows 7 SP1 clients, some of them X86 and some of them X64. IE9 is currently installed on the clients. We want to update the IE to IE11 because of incompatibility with a new application.
It’s a secure environment with no internet and WSUS is not allowed.  We do not have SCCM also in the environment. Now I need to update IE9 to IE7 on all computers using AD GPO.
I realize that IE for X64 has prerequisites that need ot be installed before IE11. On X86 it can be installed directly.
What could be the most efficient way of installing IE11 in my situation.
Windows 7 Panasonic Toughbook Tablet having BSOD issues once logged into Windows.  I have turned on Diagnostic mode on startup, but the BSOD still happens after logged into Windows.  Safe Mode with Networking works correctly.  There is NO restore points (of course).  From what I have determined, it is an issue somewhere in the registry pointing to a bad driver or program, but I cannot track it down.  I need some assistance 'walking the stack'.  Thank you.

Is there a way by GPO or PowerShell to remove a specific printer driver package in windows 7 and Windows 10?

Windows 7 pro PC windows file sharing stops being accessed from certain windows 10 and windows 7 pcs

We have a PC that has windows sharing enabled with several directories shared.

This configuration has been working for the last 3 years.

This morning 1 windows 7 pro and 2 windows 10 computers can no longer access the shared folders.
1 windows 7 pro and 2 windows 10 PCs can access the shares in the same way as always without problems.

I even tried with my laptop not from this environment to access the shares and it won''t work (my laptop is windows 10).

Not sure where to start.
All firewalls off on the local network.
Network adaptors are set to private on the windows 10 and work on the windows 7 pro PCs.

No anti-virus software is present.

Any help or utilities to check or verify settings would be helpful.

I have rebooted the router.

pinging the name of the window 7 pro with shares resolves in the proper IP address.
Browsing and trying to use the share by IP address gives the same result.

Can't access previously setup network shares.
I've had this network share setup between two Windows 7 machines for a while now. Today with no warning the network shares stopped. No password changes to the profile, no network changes, nothing that should have prompted the issue.
Everytime I access the share I get the same error message whether from the network name or the IP address. I've tried uninstalling AV. Turning on and off password protected file sharing and a few other things.
I have a small office of 5 computers. 3 are windows 7, 2 are windows 10. They've been using a central PC as a central file share. This morning they were unable to access the files share. File Share PC (FSPC) is on, has internet. I was able to reconnect the first employee who noticed the issue using \\FSPC-IP\NetworkShare and they have no more issues.

The 3 other computers still cannot connect even by \\FSPC-IP. When trying to map the network drive i get "Handle is invalid" I am able to ping the central PC from each workstation and vice versa, I can also RDP into the central pc by both the IP and Computer Name. I've rolled back the update (installed this morning) on central PC and 1 workstation, i've turned off windows firewall, i've removed and readded the central pc to the workgroup, i've flushed DNS, i've pinged FSPC by computer name and got the correct IP back, i've checked that
UPnP Device Hos
DNS Client
SSDP Discovery
Function Discovery Provider Host
Function Discovery Resource Publication
services were all running and set to automatic and then power cycled the router...i'm running out of things to try.

The workstations are also able to open a client that connects back to the Central PC...any help would be appreciated!
The user has a 3-user network, all on Win7 Pro, One PC is where they share their files, with a computer name of "Server".  Up until today, the two workstations were mapped to the Server PC using this command:

Net Use F: \\server\c

This has worked fine for years.  But today they can no longer connect.  If I delete the F: drive mapping, and once again do Net Use F: \\Server\c I get this error:

System error 6 has occurred
The handle is invalid

And if I browse to Network, I can see the PC named Server, but if I double click it I get this error:

Windows cannot access SERVER
Check the spelling....etc....
Details: Error code 0x80070033
The network path was not found

Other details:

1) They use Norton security.  I have tried turning off the firewall and antivirus on a workstation and on the server to no avail.

2) I can still do the normal Net Use mapping on the "Server" computer--but not on the other two PCs.

3) I went to do a system restore on the Server PC, but to my surprise Windows said was disabled--so no help there.

Any ideas?  TIA
I have a group of 8 Windows 7 Pro PC's that have been peer to peer sharing files. This morning the shares all went dead. Now when I try to map the drive letter to the shared folder I get a message that says

"The mapped drive could not be created. The handle is invalid"

All users have their username and password on the sharing computer.
All users are specifically given full access on the sharing computer

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

This morning I have a problem with network drive on all computer. It said 'Microsoft Windows Network : invalid descriptor' when i click on it. Everything seem to be ok on server. Going on Internet work fine on it. I uninstall antivirus on server, repair tcp stack and tried so many thing. No Windows update was made last night.

Hi -

A client has a Windows 7 pc running as a file server on a workgroup, As of this morning, no user can connect to the pc via RUN or network browser. An error message comes up saying :
\\  the handle is invalid.
Here is what i have done so far:
Changed IP address
Changed Network Name
Switch off Firewall
Switch off AV
Swap network switch and restart it

Ping does get a reply from server
The pc does see other computers and can connect to them .

Any help gratefully received.

I have multiple instances of Microsoft Visual C++. Do I need them all?

Can someone take a look at this minidump and let me know what caused the BSOD.

Microsoft automatically updated Windows 7 PC with the update above on 5 January 2019  and the user can no longer open any .xlsb Excel file as MS Excel 2010 just hangs after opening the file on this Monday.

Uninstall the above update immediately solves the problem. Microsoft has pulled out the update on Microsoft Update Catalog on 5 January 2019 on the same day the update get installed.

How to prevent similar problem from happening again?

Some users intermittently get Outlook error message "Outlook experienced a serious problem with the 'adobe document cloud for microsoft outlook - acrobat' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available." They get it infrequently.

I have an Outlook error event 1000 at the same time: "Add-in execution error. Outlook crashed during the 'Close' callback of the 'ItemEvents' interface while calling into the 'Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook - Acrobat' add-in."

Adobe accounts are set up, users are logged in, and addin is enabled. Few, if any, actually use it.

What is going wrong? How do I fix it without just disabling the add-ins?

My workplace recently got hit with a variant of the Emotet trojan and we found that it spread itself over the network via the default admin shares in Windows. As part of the disinfection process, the first thing we do is cut off the admin shares and restart, then clean up the PC.

My question is regarding what other issues we might expect to find after disabling those admin shares?

I know from a tech support standpoint it makes our job in IT a little harder because we can't just open \\pcname\c$ any more. So far, we have one legacy application (Dictaphone) that is throwing file access errors after turning off the shares. Another user says they are unable to scan from their Brother multifunction printer. We have a few hundred PC's on our network and they are all running either Windows 10 or Windows 7.

Since enabling them is a default Windows setting, we are concerned about the long term effects of this like crippling some application functions, etc. I wanted to throw this question out there to the experts to see if you know of background processes or services that utilize the shares and how much more trouble we might be creating for ourselves.
Found this Microsoft vbscript to discover, download, and then install list of missing patches for MS Windows 7, Vista, or XP. However, this script works interactively, prompting for user responses. Some more, this script supports quite number of "languages", while we only want english support only.

We are looking for a vbsciprt that only needed to run "locally" on the affected PC/desktop. Run the vbscript to detect missing patches, and then list these patches on the text file. Can this task achievable by modifying the attached script?

Thanks in advance
I have two simple workarounds for today's problem, but I am willing to spend an hour looking for a better approach. After that I will give up.

Answers such as "switch from w7/IE8 to w10/IE11" will not be considered.

Our office has a customized windows 7 desktop (named Office1) which is entirely dedicated to running a weekly script named Weekly.au3.

The script uses internet explorer 8 to download hundreds of webpages into a database, so it runs about 8 hours.

Every Saturday morning at home I use my Windows 10 laptop (named MyLaptop) and mstsc to log into the office desktop.  I start the script then go way until Sunday morning when I check for successful completion.

There is one very annoying problem: I must leave the mstsc window opened and maximized on MyLaptop.

If I minimize the window, or close the window  the Office1 script hangs, and does not resume until I reconnect using mstsc.

I threw in some debugging statements and found that the hang occurs during the _clickIE statment below.   While this code is in AutoIt, I am pretty sure the same problem would occur with AutoHotkey or other scripting tools.

consolewrite(_CurrentTime("-", ":") & "line1"&@CRLF)
consolewrite(_CurrentTime("-", ":") & "line2"&@CRLF)
_ClickIE($WinTitleDownload, "", @OSVersion)
consolewrite(_CurrentTime("-", ":") & "line3"&@CRLF)

My "simple" workaround #1 is to use GotoMyPC to connect instead of MSTSC.
Workaround #2 is to first use …
Hi I have been setting my clients in windows defender sandbox mode.  Question, when I run the setx /m mp_force_use_sandbox 1 on Windows 7 it seems to update correctly.

Question, can Windows Defender be run in sand box mode?  I get mixed answers on line.

Thanks a ton.
I get an error message showing that a device driver was not successfully installed every time I boot up my computer.   These messages refer to three networked printers.   I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.   The printers show up and print normally under Devices and Printers, but in Device Manager there are multiple entries indicating they are not installed correctly.

I just installed Visual Studio Community edition.    I selected the option to install support for Python.  Two of the selections offered were to install Python v3.7 or Anconda 5.3.
I am a bit confused .   According to the website, it seems the most recent Anaconda version is 2018.12.

Q1.) What is the latest version of Anaconda?
Q2.) What is the best way to install Anaconda and use it with Visual Studio?
Q2.) What happens if I install Anaconda without installing Python v3.7 first?
I have list of 2500 VMs, which is having low disk space issue. I need to resolve using any batch file or macro file. Can anybody help to solve the issue?

Pros and cons of this business desktop which would be bought now and avoid January 2020 end of support for Windows 7.
Intel graphics and integrated.
Which specifications would be obsolete a year from now?
Considering that we currently have 8 ram, i5, two hard drives adding to 500.

We'd be slow to start using it but there is only a 90 day warranty on this refurbished tower.
Use: no video games, only video files, music files, photos, email, internet.

We got a refurbished laptop (Lenovo and Amazon) and have had no issues. It does have W8 but can be upgraded to 10.
Any better sources for a 2nd hand unit?

We have accumulated reward points through a checking account and therefore this desktop would cost us nothing.

The specs are at the bottom of the web page.

I am trying to copying some files but, I am getting access denied. I have tried to take ownership of the files through the advanced ownership option but, I still get access denied. I there a way to force ownership so they can be copied/moved to another drive? The PC is running Windows 7.
