Here in the photo you see activate Windows, We have a Windows 8.1 laptop which may not have the hardware etc. to support that O/S. As we move windows around the message is the same. How can we disable that alert which upon opening is apparently to upgrade to W10.
The message is there 100% of the time and faintly covers what is seen in the lower right hand corner of a web page. Thanks.

Windows 8 laptop and we get update alerts every hour mainly because we have delayed them so many times. We went ahead and said ok to updates and after 20 minutes it was only 7% through. It said there could be a few restarts. I abandoned that in favor of seeing the updates and by some searching I did find a list. All were for Windows 8 = good. There was one for Windows 10. I'd like to disable that one. Where will I find those settings?

Group Policy Manger broken after windows updates on Windows 8.1.  I was in the middle of a policy update project, restarted my computer for windows updates and after the reboot now the management console is missing the show and hide function when looking at the group policy settings or reports.

This happened on my windows 2012 R2 servers as well, but disabling and re-enabling the protected mode for internet explorer seems to have resolved the issue there, but not on my windows 8.1 machine.

We have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8. It's only used for travel and that was back in May. Periodically we use it at home to keep it charged, etc. Today as we prepare for travel Windows said our password had expired.

How long are passwords good since we logged in about 45 days ago with no issue.

Then when we try to create a new password it asked for our user name.

Where in the settings can we find our user name?

I guessed 3 times and failed and somehow by clicking ok or cancel or the user icon on the middle of the page, finally got to a place to enter a new password and we in that way.

Dear Experts!
I'm looking for a detailed training material how to create custom Windows Credential Provider. I found several samples and API documentation on the official Microsoft websites, however none of them contains enough deep technical details.
Is there any book, training video or any training material how to create custom Windows Credential Provider for Windows 8 and 10?

Thanks in advance!

SYSTEM
Device: ASUS T100A v1 Notebook
RAM: 2GB
OS: Windows 8.1

BACKGROUND
My Google "Chrome" browser was loading pages slowly so I looked at the Task Manager. I turned off services and processes that seemed not needed, such as Acrobat update. But Memory still shows 65% and CPU 45-70%. After reading some forum posts, I attempted SFC /scannow, which led to DSIM in a "Command" shell window (launched as administrator).

QUESTION
How can I recover to a stable system with all system files functioning properly and not corrupted?

FILES
I am attaching a file that contains the Command shell commands and output as displayed on the screen.

SFC---DISM-Errors-20190813.txt

If you need the windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log or DISM.log files, let me know.

Turn App switching off

Turn off Auto Brightness

Enable “When I sign in or close all apps, go to the Desktop instead”.

Disable Panel Self-Refresh.

Is there a way I can redirect the full userprofile to a network location?

My aim is to reduce the login time because of the roaming profile.

I have a laptop Sony Vaio Model SVF152C29M (Product Name: SVF1521B4E) as described here:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29127197/Sony-Vaio-Notebook-SVF152C29M.html
There is Windows 8.1 64bit installed on it.
I start it up, it works normal and after a while, random time, but within minutes, max. 30 min, the keyboard is frozen. I cannot type anything. All the keys are out of functionality.
The mouse pad and the buttons of the mouse pad work without problems.
If I reboot the laptop, then everything is fine again.
If I sign out (log out) from Windows and log in again, then also the keyboard works fine.
For the moment I use the sign out method of reset the keyboard, because is faster than reboot method.
The logout/login takes less than 30s.
Now I have to do that regularly, each 30-60min.
I suppose there is not a hardware problem, but I need your confirmation too.
I expect is a software/driver problem, a clash within Windows registry related with keyboard driver.
I have tried all kind of tricks to make it run, but seems hopeless, including: delete keyboard from Device Manager or tried to update the driver (that takes infinite long and nothing happens) or Windows Repair install. I also used some software to see the keyboard virtual on the screen and check if no key is stuck somehow, pressed down, but all the keys seem to work fine.  Nothing helped.
I did not reinstall the Windows from scratch. Maybe that would help, in case is not a hardware problem, but I …

We have a number of ruggedized tablets used by workers in the field. They are basically Windows 8 machines, with no keyboard, and a tough case.

Each tablet has a SIM card and makes a 4G connection via a local Telco. We have a Cisco AnyConnect VPN set up, which creates a tunnel over the 4G connection, into our head office. It is terminated on a Cisco ASA-5508x firewall, running FDM 6.2.2.1.

Users on the tablet primarily run in-house software, but occasionally need to fire up a web browser. The VPN is configured to route ALL outbound traffic over the VPN to head office, internet access is filtered for "non-business" sites, and malware via the ASA-5508x.

This is mostly working, with one small issue. If users disconnect the VPN, they are free to browse the 'net wherever they like. Under this situation, we do not want web browsing to work at all; we want tablet users to only be able to access the 'net via the VPN and ASA-5508x.

The machines are all domain members, the DC is running server 2008R2.

Any ideas on how to somehow "break" web browsing directly across the 4G connection?

Hi

We have given an order to a small Client OEM System Builder to create 25 Clients with the same Image. They are new and have less experience.
I knew it is possible to create such an Image for Windows 7 as I worked for an OEM System Builder. Is it still possible to do this with a Windows 10 Build 1809 OEM? What we need is just to get a new SID and change the Computer name after each restore.

Thanks for helping me

I have several computers that are i3-3220's HP's and they all have the WIndows 8 Pro sticker on them. Some of them are activating with Windows 10 when I apply our Windows 10 image to them and some aren't.
For those that are activating, are they good from now on? Meaning, will I need to buy a license for them or has Microsoft given that digital ID the green light forever?
The activation screen reads, 'Windows is activated with a digital license".

Thank you,
`John
