Windows Live Mail

Windows Live Mail is the successor to Outlook Express, a discontinued email and news client bundled with several versions of Microsoft Windows, from Windows 98 to Windows Server 2003, and available for Windows 95 and Mac OS 9. In Windows Vista, Outlook Express was superseded by Windows Mail, then again by Windows Live Mail as separate software. Outlook Express is a different application from Microsoft Outlook. Beginning with Windows Vista Microsoft included Windows Mail, based on large parts of Outlook Express source code.

Hello there.

I was having big problems with my Windows 7 computer and it was because a rather nasty Trojan or something was starting to eat up the system.  I was able to save the Windows Live Mail file in the Program Files and it contains all my email accounts and emails received over the last couple of years.  I would like to be able to get the inbox and sent emails back for the respective email accounts which are now in Outlook 13.  I cannot export any7thing as the old computer has had it, but can I still copy the files across to Outlook 13, so they appear there?

I was writing a very long email to a friend and I sent it. It was taking around 15 minutes to send but then the page reloaded and I can't find the email in the deleted folder, the draft folder or the sent folder. It was around 10 paragraphs long and I cannot retell everything that was in it. Someone please help.

Window Live Mail running on Windows 10 seems to have lost a lot of emails.

Specifically, most emails after 2014 have disappeared. Vanished.

Emails from 2011 to 2014 are all present and correct. But after 2014 vast swathes of email have just disappeared.

Size of stored folder is a paltry 1.5GB.

Here is what has been tried:

All View menus have been set to display all folders and all emails.
Using Control Panel > change program > I repaired Windows Live Mail and restarted but emails are still missing

Anyone know what might have caused this and is there a solution?

Windows live mail was working fine, all of a sudden it partly opens or just sits in it's window trying to open. A window tells me

: Live Mail could not be started.
Closing Windows Live mail.
Your Calendar contains corrupt data that is forcing Live Mail to Close.

I can't get to close Windows Live Mail to try and restart it.
Can anyone help?

Hello,

A customer came to me because he uses Windows Live Mail 2011, for his contacts. He has many groups for distribution purpose, but it seems that many contacts of these groups disappeared.

Any idea from here ?

I have many Groups which were all fine until I started with Windows 10 and Windows Live Mail.   I then found that I could only send it to the Group by clicking on 'To; CC or BCC ', finding the Group in a huge drop-down list, clicking on it and then having to hit the '+' sign to get all the names on listed in the Group.  But now for the third time 'Live' has decided to randomly drop many of the names from all of the Groups.  Firstly, how can I retrieve them without having to go through all my contact lists; and 2) How can I stop this from happening again please?

I have 4 IMAP accounts set up in my Windows Live Mail. 3 are GMail and one is my work account. When I press Send and Receive, WLM takes 8 minutes to finish this task, even when not a single new email has been received, or nothing needs to be sent from the Outbox..

It goes sequentially through each of my accounts and checks for new messages in every IMAP folder. Most of the time is spent displaying messages like: Checking 'Inbox' for new messages, and this goes on for each IMAP folder in each of the 4 accounts. After checking all folders, it does one more Checking 'All Mail' for new messages before moving to the next account.

I have a Windows 10 64G and a HTC M8 with 8.1 (not my fault - T-Mobile never gets the exclusivity agreement and been with them for over 15 yrs).  I have Outlook 2016 with my Office365 E4 plan.  They are calling me tomorrow and suggesting to use the Outlook web version for my Outlook / GMail accounts.

But I wonder if that is the best way / one to use.  Any suggestions on some others?  Basically just sending / receiving emails - contacts / tasks / calendar not important.

I use Outlook 2016 Desktop version for my Exchange and my (POP - but wonder if IMAP would be better for) personal emails.  I am wondering if I might use the web version because I use a lot of aliases to help cut back on spam.  For example, if I buy something from ABC, Inc, I might use abc@example.com.  And if I start receiving a lot of spam to that specific email address, I can just go in and have that email alias bounced / deleted before I even see it.

I know I typed in Mail and this one came up:
Email ClientNot exactly sure what it is.  But I know there should be a better / easier way to manage these

Thank you!

Clients connected via wired LAN connection to local Exchange 2013 server are randomly showing as "Disconnected" in the lower right of their Outlook client.  This started happening after their ISP implemented some DNS changes.  We implemented the DNS changes on the client's firewall.  Even when Outlook reports as "Disconnected" we can still ping the Exchange server by IP and FQDN.  Also, OWA also works when Outlook reports "Disconnected".

Thanks in advance for your help!!
