I have several solutions, but one in particular, that is crying for a mobile app.  What is my "best" choice for that given my background.  I would like to do what I can quickly transition into this arena.

Hi,
I would like to buy a smartphone under 100€ or around 100€.
I have read many reviews on Internet, seen a lot of types and I am confused.
I cannot find a way to differentiate clear between them.
One one hand there is the brand and quality, on the other cheap smartphones which are better each day with a lot of functions.

My options used to filter so far were focused to have:
- WiFi, Interent Browser.
- GPS
- Good camera from 8MP up, minimum 5MP. Dual camera, second camera less or equal with 5MP.
- Operation System: don't really care, but I would say one for which are many free apps on the net, probably Android, but is not a must
- 3G or/and 4G capable
- Bluetooh
- Slot for SD card up to 32G minim.
- Long standby time from 350 hours up
- When other things cross to my mind I will add later.

I noticed that are now dual or even quad processor. I do not know how would that help, I do not plan to play games.

For example I found:
LG P710 Optimus L7 II
LG OPTIMUS SPEED P990
Nokia Lumia 800
BLACKBERRY TORCH 9860 or 9800
HTC ONE
You may suggest more

or direct from Asia:
Huawei Ascend (Y300 ot other type)
Cubot one-s or S208
UTime
MYSAGA
ZTE
and almost an infinite other names:

What do you use? What do you recommend based on your personal experience?

What kind of criteria/filter shall I use to …

Hi experts,

I just bought a Nokia Lumia 1520 windows phone.
I only used this phone on my wi-fi at home. I surfed the internet on it a couple of times, everything was working just fine and then all of a sudden when I was browsing through the menus the whole screeny turned snowy.
Kind of like the old tvs where it would look like the channel wouldn't come in.

I saw this link. My problem is the same, my screen looks just like that.
http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/214160-lumia-920-display-bug-white-tv-snow-pop-up-randomly.html

I tried to do a soft-reset (middle and volume down button for at least 10 sec) but that didn't work.

Now I'm trying to do a hard-reset. At that link it says to do a hard reset do the following:  (settings->about->reset)

But my screen is all snowy. I can't see anything on the screen but snow.
How do I get to settings --> about --> reset  with a snow screen?

Or
if a hard reset is not the solution..
Did any of you guys have this problem before? how did you solve it?

Hi,

We recently been having problems with users who are using Windows Phone 8 connected to their home Wifi. When they are connected to the home Wifi, they get an error message every 15 minutes:

We're having problems connecting to <server address>. Try again later.

Error Code: 80072EE2

If the user is connected to 3G then e-mails are fine.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Hi,

I m about to buy a tablet windows 8 but I m missing the concept here. An Iphone/Ipad has apps, when you use them the menu is big so you can easily navigate.
When I use f.e. Internet Explorer on a Windows 8 tablet, I get a browser in mini version, can t almost even read the text, it s hard to press any key. Same for Windows Explorer.

Please advise.

Hi experts,

I just ordered a Nokia Lumia 1520. I'm still waiting for it to arrive by mail.

I'm new to Windows Phones.

I previously had an iphone and an android phone.

On Android, it has a feature I believe its called "internet pass through" where I can cannect the usb cable to my phone and the other end to the usb on my computer and i can use the internet connection from my computer on my phone.

Does Windows Phone or the Lumia 1520 have allow "internet pass through"?

Don't mean to discredit any phones here.
I'm not an Android/iOS user: have been using Windows
phones & Windows on laptops all these while.

Q1:
I sometimes decide to move the cursor back to somewhere in the
SMS text to make amendment or to copy a section of text in a long
SMS but I find it very difficult to position the cursor or highlight a
certain section of an SMS text in iPhone even using a soft-tipped
stylus.  With Note 2/3's stylus is this task easier or more precise?
The Note 2/3's stylus is fine-tipped so I guess this is more precise
or the stylus of Note 2/3 does not serve this purpose?

Q2:
Sometimes I copy text between various apps (SMS text, Contacts
& I foresee will be doing this with office Word/Excel docs in future):
Is Android or iOS better for cutting/copying & pasting text between
apps?  Possibly Whatsapps & email clients as well

Q3:
What about copy/drag an attachment/picture from one apps to
another just like what I could do between MS Word & Outlook?
Does Android or iOS do better?

I'm asking all these as I'm quitting Windows Phone: my Win 6.1
crashed last month & when I got a used Nokia Lumia with Win
7.5, it crashed after a week.

I have a desktop pc running Windows 7 and I have Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate edition.

I have never really tried creating apps for Windows Phone 8 or now the new Windows Phone 8.1 that has cortana on it.
The last time I created app for windows phone was Windows Phone 7 and I used Visual Studio 2010 running on Windows 7 for those.

To create apps for Windows Phone 8.1 do I need Windows 8 operating system?
or
Can I use Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate as I have now?

Reason, I ask is because, I was just wondering if I need to buy a new computer that has Windows 8 on it to create windows 8.1 phone apps.

I have a Nokia of Lumina 925running Windows 8.1 OS. I am setting it up to receive e-mail from exchange 2003 server. I am not able to receive the e-mail. It tells me the account info is incorrect. I have compared it to a phone that is receiving e-mail and is also a Windows phone. Is there a way to get this to start receiving e-mail? Yes, the first answer is to upgrade the exchange server, however, I need to get this phone set up before the exchange upgrade occurs. The exchange upgrade may still be a month out. Is there a workaround until then?

I have a client who wants a mobile app for their website.  I created a mobile website for them, and recommended they simply inform their clients how to save a bookmark icon to their phone/tablet versus spending time/money on an app.  Basically, I'm trying to deter them from an app as their site is dynamic...but they still want an app (I think they just think it's cool.)

Anyway, my question is this...is it possible to create an app that, when the icon is clicked, the user would simply be redirected to their mobile site?  It seems pretty simple, but all the app creator programs I'm finding either force me to create a mini site, or cost $30p/m which seems silly if all they need is a redirect.  Let me know.  Thanks.

I currently have an iPhone 5.

I was thinking about switching and getting a Nokia Lumia 1020.

I read that it has Windows Phone 8 operating system on it.

I read that the latest is Windows Phone 8.1.

If I buy this phone can I update it to Windows Phone 8.1? I just want to make sure before I buy it.

Also, is the Nokia Lumia 1020 the consensus best Windows phone?

Hello everyone

We are looking at developing a mobile application, however the developers we are working with say the haven't worked with x86 phones as yet.

I was looking for clarify around this statement:

1. x86 in my mind means a 32-bit Intel chip. Do Intel make 64-bit chips as well for smartphones, or are they all 32-bit so far?

2. Am I correct in saying that the vast majority of smartphones actually run on ARM anyway? Reading around, Apple seems to be 32-bit or 64-bit ARM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS

Not sure about Android

3. So we refer to 32-bit Intel as x86 and 64-bit Intel as x64. What are the equivalent names for ARM architectures?

TIA

Can I connect my Windows phone Microsoft account to my corporate domain account like I can on my Windows 8.1 enabled laptop?

We have set up an Exchange 2010 server along side Exchange 2003 for testing and have moved a dozen or so users over, including me. I can send and receive mail OK.  I could access my mail before on my Windows phone or Android device before I moved my mailbox by using the IP address on our internet facing router in the settings when I configured my devices.

Inbound connections from the router goes to our Watchguard device which sends mail to the IP of our spam filter, a WatchGuard device. From there it is all sent to the IP address of Exchange 2003 server. Since I moved my mailbox to the Exchange 2010 server I cannot get mail on my phone or tablet anymore. I assume it is because the spam filter is sending everything to the IP of the Exchange 2003 server, but why are the send-receive connectors not putting me thru to the new Exchange 2010 server?

Hi

I have a user that can't connect to our Mikrotik hotspot with his (Nokia) windows phone

I read somewhere that it may be because Windows phone uses a larger MTU

Does any one know the MRU size ? Because I could resize it on the fly with a mangle rule

thanks

I recently upgraded to Office 365 E3. I setup the directory sync but not ADFS. My goal is to have my Win 8.1 users logoin with their Office 365 accounts. But when I try and setup the desktops with Office 365 accounts as the MS account it doesn't recognize the account. Surely there is a way to use my Office 365 account as my MS account on Win 8.1 Pro?

hi, I have a few phones that I would like to pickup emails on. we have a windows 2003 sbs running exchange 2003.
I get from the MS test connectivity site

Host name mail.domain.co.uk doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=www.domain.co.uk, CN=companyweb, CN=2003SBS, CN=localhost, CN=2003SBS.mydomain.local

windows phone reports
we're having problems connecting to mail.domain.co.uk
error code 80072FA8

we do not use a paid for SSL. And ideally would like to stay away from that on this server.
