Windows Phone (WP) is a family of mobile operating systems developed for smartphones as the replacement successor to Windows Mobile and Zune.  Windows Phone features a new user interface derived from Metro design language. Windows 10 Mobile succeeded Windows Phone 8.1 and emphasizes a larger amount of integration and unification with its PC counterpart—including a new, unified application ecosystem, along with an expansion of its scope to include small-screened tablets.

I installed SQL Server CE 4.0.  I would like to build a database that I can use in my phone app.

I understand that once the tables have been built, I can import it into the Data folder of my phone app.

I know how to create and manage a SQL Server database.

What tools are available for creating a SQL Server CE 4.0 database.

Thanks,

Hi
Have installed Exchange 2010 on Server 2008R2 and migrated users mailboxes from SBS 2003 which is still co-existing on the network.

I have 2 issues:

1. Although owa works from the internet, iphones won't connect and application log shows Event id 1033 MSExchange Activesync "The setting ExternalProxy in the web.config file was not valid. The previous value was null and has been changed to ."

2. When opening Outlook on the Client machines, a security alert is seen. "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site". The certificate is for xyz.externaldomain.com however the exchange server is ex2010.intdomain.local

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Julian

I would like to "click" on a word inside a RichTextBox and put it on another textbox. I see answers for Select All text, but I wanted only the word where cursor has focus, I'm sure is possible because in my Windows Phone when I click a word it gets selected and I can paste it where I want! Thks

I'm looking for a way to use a LongListSelector in WP8 to display data regardless of the number of fields in that data.

So if I set the .ItemSource to a List(of FirstNameSurnameNameClass) it displays a column for FirstName and SurnameName.

But if I set the .ItemSource to a List(of FirstNameMiddleNameSurnameClass) it displays a column for FirstName, MiddleName and SurnameName.

Basically I want to be able to throw any old .ItemSource at the LLS and all the fields in said .ItemSource to be displayed.

Increasingly I'm finding clients are responding to these calls from "Windows" where they say a computer is sending out corrupt signals, etc. etc. The scammer talks the client into a Logmein123 or Teamviewer sign-in, takes over the computer, shows them error codes, then charges them to fix it.

I've handled a few of these so far, mostly getting them to cancel the credit card charge, then looking over the computer and doing some virus/malware scans, etc. I remove the icons they and programs they usually place on the computer and whatever I find.

I've got one tomorrow. My question: is there a file or setting you'd recommend I look for particularly? Not sure how to prove that no one can access the computer anymore.

Thanks...looking for ideas.

I have a grid that has 52 cells (4 rows, 13 columns).  There is an image in each cell.

I would like to set the same tap event for each of the 52 images.

<Image x:Name="imgClub1"
                Width ="28"
                Source="Images\C1Clip.png"
                Height="40"
                Grid.Row="0"
                Grid.Column="0" Stretch="None"
                Margin="0,0,28,0"
                Tag="C1Full"
                Tap="cmdClub1_Tap"
                Grid.ColumnSpan="2" VerticalAlignment="Top"
               />

            <Image x:Name="imgClub2"
                     Width ="28" Source="Images\C2Clip.png"
                     Height="40"
                     Grid.Row="0"
                     Grid.Column="1" Stretch="None"
                     Margin="0,0,0,0"
                     Tag="C2Full"
                     VerticalAlignment="Top"
                     Tap="cmdClub1_Tap"
                />

void cmdClub1_Tap(object sender,
                     System.Windows.Input.GestureEventArgs e)
        // Place selected image into imgHole
        {
            //string strImageName = TappedImage.Tag.ToString();
How do I determine the name of the tapped image?

Is there a Selected property for images?

Thanks,

I need to change the source of an image on button click.

The compie error I am getting is:

Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'System.Windows.Media.ImageSource'

My code:

void cmdHole1_Tap(object sender,
                     System.Windows.Input.GestureEventArgs e)
            // Place image into imgHole1
            {
                string strImageSource = "C:\\Develop\\Apps\\Holdem\\Images\\cards_png\\C1Full.png";
                imgHole1.Source = strImageSource;
                int intTest1 = 1;

            }

What should I change?

I am building a phone 8 app which uses the Tap event when a button is tapped.

Debug testing with a stop point shows that the event is triggered.

    void cmdHole1_Tap(object sender,
                     System.Windows.Input.GestureEventArgs e)
        // Place image into imgHole1
        {
            imgHole1.Source = imgC1Clip.Source;  // This works
            int intTest1 = 1;

        }

The issue is that the emulator does not display the button image.

The button image is displayed in design mode.

I am using the default emulator: WVGA 512MB and running Windows 8 Pro.

See file images:

How do I fix this?

Thanks,

Hello

We are looking at a different phones to provide as corporate phones now that Blackberry 7 devices will be going end of sale.

SO far:

iPhone : Great but expensive!

Android: Cheaper but security risk?

Blackberry 10: Not sure about the company

I was thinking about Windows Phone. Admittedly, there is a lack of applications but I think it may integrate easily since we are a Windows shop.

If we could lock down the device using some MDM provider, then we could use native Activesync to deliver email and applications to the device without having to worry about data leakage.

One question - with Blackberry, each carrier in each region had its own firmware which made device certification a nightmare. Does anyone know how device software works for Windows Phone? Is it one OS globally and how are updates managed?

I have 2 domains on my single hosted Exchange account in Office 365. The 3 email accounts on one of the domains work fine with Outlook 2013. How do I set up my one email account on the other domain to work with the same Outlook 2013 profile? At the moment I'm using it online only on a Windows 8 desktop and a Windows 8.1 laptop. It works fine and syncs perfectly on my Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 phone. It used to work fine on Windows 7 but the upgrade must have messed this up.

Hi All

We currently have an Exchange 2010 setup that is configured with SSL certs on 123.com, this is used by OWA and mobile phones (Blackberry's, Iphones, Androids)

We have re branded so now our primary domain is ABC.com however all of the SSL certs and access is still configured for 123.com which are due to expire.

I have to change this and have purchased  a new wildcard SSL cert for abc.com, my concern is that when i replace the SSL cert what will the impact be on mobile devices, we have about 300 so re-configuring those is going to take some time.

For a period of a month we are going to forward webmail.123.com to webmail.abc.com which will be fine for people using OWA but i'm not sure that will help with mobiles, most use activesync configured to connect to webmail.123.com

Has anyone been through this before and have advice

Thanks

I have difficulty using PDA phones smaller than 5" as my finger just
can't hit the keys correctly (besides my long-sightedness), so I'll
need one with

a) at least 5 inch size (diagonally)
b) that can run Chrome (as I plan to use Chromecast) to view
    movies in drama.net & gooddrama.net & youtube : on
    iPad 3 & iPhone 5, the movies are rather laggy, choppy
    & slow-motion like.  So what's recommended should not
    have this issue
c) can run Whatsapp (Windows mobile 7.5 & Androids 2.0
    or older can't run Whatsapp, I think)
d) can read MS Word, Excel and pdf files (using a freeware)
e) ideally has international warranty
f)  with Wifi & 4G (ie LTE ?)

I just blew my Nokia Lumia 920 & Motorola Blur (android
phone) when using a wrong charger to charge them)

What's the lowest cost model that meet the above requirements?
Thought of getting Galaxy Note 1 from Amazon but I'm not sure
if the warranty is covered in my country here in Singapore.

I'm developing for Windows phone.

On the store display model the phone displayed pages in desktop mode. Is this default?

I'm working out of twitter bootstrap which has been very forgiving for Android and iPhone.

What would be a good strategy for developing for Windows Phone? I plan to download the emulator.

I'm looking for app like Fing that discovers all devices connected to a Wi-Fi network.  Unfortunately Fing is not available for Windows Phone 8 and I have yet to find any app in the Windows Store that performs the function.   I did find an app called Lan scanner but it only scans for open ports and it didn't actually work in any case.   Any suggestions?

When I click an icon below to select Whatsapp for Win Mobile,
it gave a message "application not available.  Thi smight be because
yr phone software needs to be updated, the application is
exclusive to a different mobile provider or the app is not
available in yr region".

http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/whatsapp/218a0ebb-1585-4c7e-a9ec-054cf4569a79

What could be the reason?  Thought Win Mobile 7.5 could run Whatsapp

Hello,

We are trying to make a mobile application and I was curious... what do you do after you create the APIs for the back end? What program should I use to generate the front end? Are there any step by step tutorials whhich include this transition step?

Hi Experts.

I'm looking to resurrect an old app to use on Windows Phone 8, but so much has changed.

I need the phone to talk to an occasionally connected database (actually a 'usually connected database', that might be without wifi for an hour or so per day)

Previously I used local caching with the Sync Framework.  Is the Sync Framework still in existence?

Ideas please :)
