Hi Experts.

I'm looking to resurrect an old app to use on Windows Phone 8, but so much has changed.

I need the phone to talk to an occasionally connected database (actually a 'usually connected database', that might be without wifi for an hour or so per day)

Previously I used local caching with the Sync Framework.  Is the Sync Framework still in existence?

Ideas please :)
HI All,

One of my colleague had a phone replacement. Now she has a Nokia lumina 520. She used her previous phone with exchange e-mail without a problem, but now after I configured her e-mail account after a quick sync I receive an error telling me:
" We are having a problem connecting to
error code: 80072ef3
And the main problem is that I wasn't able to find anything to solve that.

Please help me.

Does anyone know if Microsoft plans to release a coding platform where
you can build software that runs on an android device
I'm trying to find the color of the pixel under the mouse pointer in (Windows Phone 8)

I think the way forward is to create a WriteableBitmap of the image on the page and use .GetPixel(GetPosition(mImage).X, GetPosition(mImage).y)

Problem is that the image on the page is set to fill the page.  How can I translate the position in the stretched image to that of the unstreched image ?
Will someone with a windows phone open

and see if the link will open in a mapping program?

Easy 500 points.
Dear experts,

I need to install our self signed certificace from SBS 2008 server to Windows phone.
I have no email account in my WP yet (my only account is Exchange witch do not work without cert).

When I upload "SBSCertificate.cer" to FTP and try to download, it will show something like "0‚0‚u t Z¬cLCzo0>roy0 *†H†÷ 010Utech..."

I've tried using the code from

But the SubscribeForMessage event handler never fires ?

Would be great if someone could post some code that works and has been tested with a real world windows phone.
We have recently moved over to Smart phones from Blackberry devices in out business.  All seems ok, particularly now we have deployed a mobile device policy through Exchange!

However, we seem to have a problem with the policy.  The main use of the policy at the moment is to disable internet tethering on devices to avoid high data costs.  Whilst this works perfectly on Android and Windows phone devices, whilst it at first seemed to work OK on ios 6, people can now enable internet tethering on ios 7 regardless of the policy being active!

Has anyone else seen this issue?  I can't seem to find anything about it online anywhere...and some people are currently running up European data bills!  Whilst we can manually disable them through the network provider, it would be much better if we could enforce locally instead.
Is there an online tool that I can paste my HTML5 code into a test for Windows Phone 8 system?
I downloaded a sample from

But there's is no Dispatcher.RunAsync Method in Windows Phone 8.

I have Dispatcher.BeginInvoke but can't get how to finish it ?

Any ideas?

Hello there...
I have a really annoying problem with a Windows Phone.
It has an exchange mail account configured, and when I forward an email to a friend, it removes the from adress of the first email, and only shows the name.
So my friend can't reply the first mail, because he cant see the from adress...
It has all updates installed, and I have tried almost everything... Is it possible to add this in options somewhere ????

I see that the WP market share is growing and growing - was interested to know if anything thought that it will overtake iOS.

I see in some (non-US) markets such as UK and Latin America, it has reached double figures

We currently have a BlackBerry estate for work provided mobile phones and are unlikely to move to BES10, instead we were looking at WP and controlling these via SCCM....does anyone have any experience/ feedback?
No one has ever complained before, but smartphones users (if they choose to) cannot sync all of their email (I know the merits of this can be debated) However I have an Sr. Executive who insists on receiveing all of her email on her Windows Nokia phone.  I checked my own phone and I was set at 3 days, changed to 30 days (the most available to me) and synced without issue. However, looking online I see that some Exchange 2007 activesync users can see the "all" selection. I checked my Exchange server and on the Organizational level there is only the default activesync policy and it is set at "ALL" for both include past calendar items and past email items. I see no other policies on the server level that might override this.

Is there something else I need to do or check on the exchange server? Is this a limitation based on phone? Sr. Exec is a new hire who works remotely, I have never met her nor worked with a windows phone though I suspect that is probably not the issue as I am seeing the same thing on my Verizon Android phone.

If it helps, we are running exchange server 2007 std on Windows server 2003 std.

Any insight or suggestions? Thanks.
We're currently looking into MDM solutions for managing Windows Phone, iOS devices and Android devices.

We've already spoken to many vendors of MDM tools, so we have a pretty good idea of what's on the market. Also got some demos. But demos can be misleading.

So when we ask the vendors for a reference visit to an actual implementation, we can hear the crickets chirp. Seems many companies doing a POC or small scale tests, not many having a large installed base.

So I'm asking the question here:
(1)who has done an MDM implementation with a fairly sized installed base?
(2)What MDM tool did you select ?
(3)what type of mobile devices do you support?
(4)what are your general experiences with the tool?
(5)Did you experience any differences between what was promised and what is actually possible?
Hello Experts,

I would like to use Web Cert enrollment with our AD - based CA to enroll complete PKCS#12 cert/key files for domain users to use with S/MIME in their Emails. They need to do it themselves and have a number of devices/OS (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Windows Phone...) - this is why PFX containers would be needed.

Is it possible to use the Web Enrollment for that? Is there a more efficient way?

Thanks for your input!

We have an Inventory Project with small database, which will be used for maintaining our Inventory Items like  Computers etc..,

I have Outlook 2013 (office 365) running on a Windows8 machine.  The account is configured to synchronize (download) messages with

Most emails are synchronizing well both to the desktop and a Windows8 phone.  However, there are two senders that their emails get 'stuck' on Hotmail and are not synchronizing to either Outlook or the windows phone.  Emails from other senders from same organization/domain are coming through normally.

Any idea what could be the cause/solution?
Hi, I've got this .NET app written to connect with GPS devices. Any emulators / simulators out there to simulate GPS devices ... since GPS connection can be erratic indoors??

I've googled and found FakeGPS as an option ( Anyone used this before? Anything better?

We currently use airwatch for our MDM on IOS devices but are looking at deploying windows phone 8 in the field, however airwatch offers limited solutions for wp8. We need to be able to lock down the store and I have even created a trial on intune but cant find a way to do it.

Does anyone know of any vendors that offer expanded MDM solutions for wp8?
I cannot for the life of me find how to change the time to 12 hour format
Anyone got a clue?
Hi all,

We have a client still running Exchange 2003 who has purchased a bunch of HTC Windows 8 phones.

Although the mail client will connect and send/recieve email, it won't download any attachments - it just reports "download incomplete" immediately on trying.

After reviewing the MS White papers for Windows Phone 7 and 8 it seems pretty clear that the download attachment feature is not supported with Phone 7 and Exchange 2003 and that 2003 sp2 isn't supported in any way under Windows Phone 8..!

All of that said, I was wondering if anyone had been able to get this working or had any ideas if it was possible to bodge/workaround/force!

I have a wireless router on a subnet that I would like employee's to access email and Internet through, without having to use their data plan from their phone provider.  I want them to be able to use the email account they currently have configured on their phones so that they do not need to setup an additional exchange account on their phone.
I have been able to connect to the Internet, but email only works if I enter the Exchange Server's IP address or local name.  If I use as the server, which is the address they have in their phones.  I am unable to connect.  I have added the subnet to the receive connector in Exchange.
Do I need to setup a static route in the wireless router?  Do I need to add a CNAME somewhere?  Would a Conditional Forwarder help?  I'm a little lost as to how to approach the problem as I have limited experience in this area.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

PS: Something odd - My Windows phone appears to be able to receive email using  However, I think that maybe when it cannot connect to the server wirelessly, it goes through my data plan (even though it remains connected to the wireless network).
My Samsung i785 phone running Win mobile 6.1 is about to fail:
the power button can't wakes it up anymore (nor switch it to power
-saver mode) & I need to hard reset it every time when it's in power-saver

I got a Nokia Lumia 710 that runs Win Mobile 7.5.

Need step by step guidance on how I can use my laptop (I have one
running Win XP SP2 with MS Outlook 2003 & another one running
Win 7 with MS Outlook 2010) to sync so that the Contacts, Calendar
Reminders & SMS messages can be moved from the Samsung
PDA to the Nokia Lumia
