Word Processors

A word processor is an electronic device or computer software application that performs the task of composition, editing, formatting, and sometimes printing of documents. Most modern word processors use a graphical user interface, and most are powerful systems consisting of one or more programs that can produce any arbitrary combination of images, graphics and text, the latter handled with type-setting capability. Typical features of a modern word processor include font application, spell checking, grammar checking, a built-in thesaurus, automatic text correction, Web integration, and HTML exporting, among others.

I inserted 2 tables the length of the page. I copy pasted a photo to the left side and text to the right side. The result looked centered. I check the margins and it was set on 1 inch all 4 sides. When I experimented with 0.5 on all 4 sides it shifted everything to the left leaving a large area to the right of the 2nd table of maybe an inch. Yes it had to go left to show 0.5 inch margin on the left side, but what will the result be as far as margins when it is printed? Will the two tables be the same size they were before the margins were changed from 1 to 0.5? Running low on ink to experiment too much.

Hello,

Our business website has linked to document files in RTF format since 1999. The original reason was that it was a standard format that non-Office word processing software could open (our users are corporate environment users).

However, today, I'm wondering if it's still the case. Most of our users don't know what a .rtf document, so there is some "open anxiety" there.

I'm under the impression that any word processing client today can open .doc or .docx files.

If true, any reason to offer our RTF instead of moving to DOC?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Word 2016/Win10

I have a document with a numbered list. On the second level, what should be a, b... do not display at all. I see a black square.
Black Squares in Numbered List
When I look at the settings (per Define New Multilevel List), nothing shows in the formatting-for-number field and I can't seem to type anything in that field.
Formatting for Number
When I click Font the following window appears...
Between 100...when I clear the window I can see the normal FONT window.
Word Font Window
Can anyone deduce what's going on? Thanks! Please let me know if I should attach the (scrubbed) document.

I've never seen these but they appear in templates in MS Word. (See red arrow in graphic)
Can someone tell me what they are or supply a link to a decent description.

All the solutions I've read  seem to point to making the squiggly lines disappear. You can either 'ignore' their existence, or case by case deal with each line (frequently the problem is an extra space. Delete the space and the squiggly line will disappear).

I was wondering, however as   the appearance of squiggly lines  has to do with formatting, is there any way I can reformat the whole document preventing the problem from happening in the first place.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows a program that convert  pdf to
MS Word

Situation: we have a project where we need to scan 300+ pages (yes in paper) to pdf and somehow get it to Word so we can modify some of the text in those pages without having to re-type everything.

any idea?

Thanks

Hello,
We have some users that have paragraph line spacing formatting issues with certain Word files.  We discovered the issue to be a default setting in Word that uses HTML paragraph auto spacing.  When we check the box to turn that feature off, the formatting issue is resolved.

Since this does not affect every document, it is troublesome for the user to go to File | Options | Advanced for the documents where this fix is needed.  I understand that Microsoft provides the Custom UI XML tool to create custom Ribbon tabs for Word but I am novice with it.

So my question, is it possible to create a custom Ribbon for Word 2013 that has a button that can toggle the feature below on and off with a single click?  If so, what are the steps to accomplish that?

Hello experts one of our apps open a word document previously recorded. Fills its blank spaces and saves the document in a different location....all works fine....but
Word keeps on its recent documents the name and position of our model document....
How can we remove this particular file from the recent documents without erasing the rest ?
Or even better, how can we prevent the file to get in the list ?
best regards!

I want to change settings on Word so I can begin a letter anywhere on the page.
I try to type one and at some point near the end of the first line it auto goes to a second line and skips a space.
I have changed the spacing "after" from 10 to 0 and the setting does not hold.
In this image I want to copy paste a photo in the circle and type text in the square. Then print.
I am getting no results on it.

I'd go to Notepad if I thought it would work. Would Excel give ME more control?
I even typed the text in an e-mail and then copy and tried to paste it where I wanted in on Word and failed to go on the right side of the page.

How to take into account ". " ( dot ) at the end of the sentance ?
For example :
Initial input : "London is the capital of Great Britain."
Expected output : "Britain is the capital of Great London."
Actual output : "Britain. is the capital of Great London"   ("dot" moved with the last word - this is bug that I would like to solve )

Looking forward for reply from you dear Experts !

Hi,
I downloaded a hunk of Javascript code. When I display it in NOTEPAD++, it can display in two ways.

NOTE: Apologies for the very small font in the screenshots. Please click on a screenshot to display it in a bigger format. :)

1. With a red minus sign at the left, with line numbers 1 and 3 visible.
JS file displayed with Minus Sign
2. If I click the red minus sign, it changes to a red plus sign, and I now see lines 1, 2 and 3.
JS file displayed with Plus sign
I've attached the file (filename scrubbed).

Also (this issue may or may not be related): The JS program code displays with no line breaks. (That's how it came down from the site.) Can this issue be remedied? (If you experts feel this issue should be a separate question, please let me know and I'll be happy to comply.)

Thanks,
Steve

I have a 15 page document to prepare, where there will be about 6 sections. I'd like the section title to print on the header for each page in that section.

How do I do this?

Also, what kinds other extra Word formatting niceties can I use?

There is a word. You need to swap ( replace by each other ) first letter "m" and the last letter "p" . Also you should consider the possibility that such letters won't be in a given word.

For example :

test1.
input : mamapapa
output: pamapama

test2
input: enormous
output: sorry there isn't any "p" letter in the word

test3
input: place
output: sorry there isn't any "m" letter in the word.

Many thxs in advance !

When the Word 2013 Windows documents were created, apparently a template was used which filled in the date at the top of the page.

Whenever we open an old document, the date changes to today's date.

How can we keep the original dates?

Thanks.

I have 8 blog posts laid out in Word, but need them in a format I can deliver to my WordPress developer.

I am considering getting Dreamweaver for $29.99 / month. This sounds like a good bridge between Word and WordPress.

Any free option?

Secondly, I need ideas on formatting the text to look nice. I see the first paragraph could be bolded to make it a string introduction to the blog post.

Why about indenting the start of each paragraph?

What might be good fonts and point sizes?

Thanks

Please list for me a handful of best practices which are also easy to implement.

I hear whiteface is important, so layout concerns are also important to me.

Then, a few links pointing to articles on this topic would also be helpful.

Thanks

0)can you think of any word that can be a homophone word for archeries..
(sounds similar, but different meaning)..
1)archery is a sport..
2)what could plural of archery be? (if applicable)..
3)i see a word called 'orchery'.. would orcheries be a plural word- that would be correct?
(from urbandictionary.com - would this disqualify the word?)

Hi Experts

Could you point a "MS-Word like"  text processor that runs in PC and after a file is saved could then be read in an Android Smartphone?

Thanks in advance.
