Word Processors

A word processor is an electronic device or computer software application that performs the task of composition, editing, formatting, and sometimes printing of documents. Most modern word processors use a graphical user interface, and most are powerful systems consisting of one or more programs that can produce any arbitrary combination of images, graphics and text, the latter handled with type-setting capability. Typical features of a modern word processor include font application, spell checking, grammar checking, a built-in thesaurus, automatic text correction, Web integration, and HTML exporting, among others.

Hi,
For Chinese word, I think there're many tens of thousands for use. Is there any automatic way to list out all Chinese word, from anything, like a Chinese dictionary?

But I can only select less than 2 thousand distinct Chinese words from these

I wish to copy and print out the information contained at http://www.audiotubes.com/bidlist.htm  It has a yellow background. To me it looks like it is a table with the cells using a yellow background rather than the entire page being yellow. How can I copy only the formatting and the text and leave the background white? I am trying to use Word 2013 as the ultimate destination

I need to OCR a large number of PDF files.  The PDFs are printed from Word documents that have had changes tracked, so inserted words underlined, deleted words stuck out.  I need the inserted and struck words to be somehow flagged, maybe with a * or ^ or whatever, but something that an AI system can recognize as a flag.  Best if the OCR engine can run under Linux.

I've got a Google Doc where I'd like to set its sharing permission to a "suggestion" mode. I see sharing options for "can view", "can comment", and "can edit" and I know that when editing there's a "suggestion" mode that a user can select.

However, I don't want them to be able to choose the full edit mode, I want all their changes to clearly show up as suggestions. Any idea how to force only that level of permission?

Hi,

I have a user who is querying some property details on some word 2007 documents as the last printed date is earlier than the creation date?  How is it possible to have a printed date that is before the creation date?

I have a WordPerfect document that, for legal purposes, I need to see the metadata from. I don't have WordPerfect installed on my machine. Is there any way for me to view the metadata? I need the original create date, the author, and whatever other information I can get from it. Any suggestions?

Say, 2 easily do double sided printing I need to reformat the attached. A5 cards are required but A4 card is to be used. The Mail Merge document needs to be setup to print 2 cards per A4 page - the 1st records and 2nd record one beneath the other (so that it can be sliced in half) and the second page (no merge fields in this page) similarly on the 2nd page. Please feel free to cut and paste and reformat as needed. Tx

We have used a master scheduling template since Word 2003.  It depends on balloons that are actually balloons.  Word 2013 has made this document unreadable. I have tried every configuration I can think of, but still no balloons.  And these pseudo balloons are just lines to text that is overwriting information underneath it.  File attached.  So, two questions:
1. Can you get 2003 balloons in 2013?
2. If not, is there a free editor that has actual pop-up balloons that we can use instead of Word?
I tried Kingsoft Office, but they just mimic Microsoft.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Windows 7 64 Bit SP1
Corel WP 8 (yeah, I know, but she is heels-dug-in resistant to change)

We JUST installed a Doman Controller.  Joining this computer to that domain is when this problem started.  If I try to print to ANY of her printers from WordPerfect 8, the print job never even makes it into the print queue.  I can print test pages and I can print from every other program, just not from WordPerfect.  AND if I log in as her local account, it works just fine.

Please provide a handful of rules of thumb as I document my inventions for the scientific community.

So I use "I discover X..."?

Or "expriment ABC revealed X"?

Do I put my thoughts in there? Opinions?

What about tense? "Past perfect", like a book?

Please tell me anything you can think of...

Thanks

I tried to upload my book cover, front, back and spine, but was told the max file size in 40 MB. Mine is 138 MB!

I had this created by an artist using Adobe. I have seen the way the file looks and I see lots and lots of overlapped images and lots of junk.

Might be need to rebuild the file to get it to be small?

Please explain this process.

Thanks.

I am creating a PDF from a Word doc using LibreOffice.

In the doc I need two types of links:
1) highlight text that points to a Web URL
2) highlight text that opens a pop-up of a few sentences of text, on hover

I assume #1 will translate fine from Word Hyperlink.

For #2, when I use Hyperlink > Screen Tip feature, I can successfully create a pop-up. BUT, I am required to use a hyperlink, which I do not want to do there.

Is there any way to have the pop-up without have a hyperlink? I do not want the hyperlink.

AND when I use LibreOffice the pop-up is lost.

So I have no way to create a pop-up in a PDF.

Can you tell me?

Thanks.

Hello,

In a Word 2013 document, if I have this text:

Test Line 1
(Test Line 2)

...and then highlight all the text in line 1, including the area at the end (triple-clicking in the line highlights all of it), then press Delete on the keyboard, or CTRL+X to cut it, line 1 text goes away, but it then ADDS a space before the parenthesis of line 2.  It also happens if I replace the parenthesis with a bracket "[".  Does anyone know why or how to disable?

Thanks!

This question is related to:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28930979/Importing-Word-document-from-Confluence-workarounds-for-formatting-issues-etc.html

My client publishes Tech Writing contact on an external wiki, using Confluence. I prefer authoring in Word. So, I imported my completed Word doc to Confluence via its "Office Connector". Unfortunately, as the previous question indicates, the import process caused significant issues with the content. I had to spend significant time fixing it manually. I do not want to go through that process for my next project.

Accordingly, my client suggested I author in Confluence. To that end, two questions:

1. I can do the above, but hate losing Word functionality on which I depend. e.g. I liberally insert comments into the doc as reminders to myself, or questions to reviewers. In fact, when I imported a large Word doc so I can continue working on it in Confluence, the comments became embedded in the text. Workaround?

2. Can anyone suggest an alternative to doing my writing in Confluence?

Thanks!
Steve
