Teach the user how to download the required VMware and Trend Micro software and understand system requirements

Video Steps

1. Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements

Requirements:
1 Windows (or Linux) Server (9GB RAM)
1 vShield Manager per vCenter Server (8GB RAM)
1 DSVA per ESXi host (2GB RAM)
For Production - SQL or Oracle Database
In this series, we will use the embedded Apache database, but this is not supported in Production environments.

2. Open web browser and visit Trend's website to download software

Trend's download center does not require registration.
Under the "Server and Storage" section, we will download the required Deep Security components.

3. Download the required components

Download the:
Deep Security Virtual Appliance
Deep Security Manager
Deep Security Relay (the Notifier is optional)
Be sure to select the "Patch" tab. Trend's Product patches are actually the latest release, so downloading the patch will give you everything you need. Be sure to save the components to a single directory.
The Notifier allows agentless protection to provide feedback to users if they encounter anti-malware. Without the notifier, this experience can be rather unfriendly.

4. Open web browser and visit VMware's website to download software

You'll need to login to vmWare's download site.

5. Download the vShield Manager

This is under the vmWare vCloud Networking and Security product. Be sure to download the latest release.

Installing used hardware in a home lab or other systems can have some challenges. Hopefully, the lesson learned here with a used NVMe drive will save someone else time and headache.
