Any person in technology especially those working for big companies should at least know about the basics of web accessibility. Believe it or not there are even laws in place that require businesses to provide such means for the disabled and aging population. The scary thing is that not many of these laws except for the ADA are really enforced. The usual way they are enforced is by mandate from legal proceedings wherein a customer/client does not see the proper measures are in place and feels they can force companies to put them in place by law suit or other legal means.
