In this video we will show you HOW TO: Backup (Export) and Restore (Import) virtual machines to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 for FREE. This procedure can be followed to backup (export) and restore (import) any virtual machine hosted on the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 host server.

Video Steps

1. Connect to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 (ESXi 7.0) or vSphere vCenter Server using the VMware Host or vSphere Web Client.

Connect to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 (ESXi 7.0). Please see this video.

2. Virtual Machine Backup (Export) of My First Windows Virtual Machine to OVF.

Make sure the virtual machine is powered off. Right-click the virtual machine and select Export OVF.

3. Virtual Machine Backup (Export) of My First Linux Virtual Machine to OVF.

Make sure the virtual machine is powered off. Right-click the virtual machine and select Export OVF.

4. Examination of the exported (backup) files in the backup folder.

Check the contents of the backup folder for the correct number of files.

5. Virtual Machine Restore (Import) of My First Windows Virtual Machine from an OVF.

Right-click Host and Select Create/Register VM, then select Deploy OVF/OVA and follow the wizard.

6. Virtual Machine Restore (Import) of My First Linux Virtual Machine from an OVF.

Right-click Host and Select Create/Register VM, then select Deploy OVF/OVA and follow the wizard.
