More bioMost of my career I've played the role of high-end knowledge user.  I started out in PC R&D, then, developing Windows apps in C, writing archaic (now) macros in Lotus 123, and remember evaluating GEM as a possible solution.  I remember and used Windows 1.0 and Excel 1.0 (seems like yesterday).  I remember Gupta SQL Server and used it heavily, also writing my own version of MS Query and Chart apps for Windows a few years before MS Query came out (seems simple, today!)  I've led application development teams, and after I achieved MBA status, I ran a data center at a refinery, responsible for systems and process control.  Shortly after that, I began to leverage my MBA skills in the area of strategy & planning.  I've been consulting and leading strategy teams for the better part of 20 years, in refining, marketing, and corporate refining, marketing & chemicals - where I work, today.  I'm currently focused on competitive intelligence and use key processes and systems to gain insights into competitive landscape and behavior.  I model and lead modeling efforts to understand relative profitability, etc.  I've always tried to keep my systems skills up to date, and I've excelled at systems integration - both IT systems as well as people systems.  I've recently found myself doing a significant amount of modeling, leveraging Excel optimization and VBA to streamline processes.

I like solving problems & streamlining systems.   I love solving puzzles.  Last December, I asked my first Excel question and after that, I decided it was time I gave back to E-E.  So, I engaged in becoming an Expert.
