GNU Mailman - Duplicate Email Problem
I am having problems with a mailman recipient receiving multiple copies of the same email. Here's the situation:
We have a new Principal starting the school in a few months and in the meantime, the Principal wants to be involved in emails that go to our mailing lists. Her email address is linda@external.com
Our current principal also needs to remain in the loop. Her email address is sabrina@internal.com.
Our mailing lists are: Staff, Faculty, Students, Parents
Linda@external.com has been added to all of the above lists.
Sabrina@internal.com is also a member of all of the above lists.
Now, when phil@internal.com sends out a school-wide email to Staff, Faculty, Students, and Parents, sabrina@internal.com only receives 1 copy. Linda@external.com receives 4 copies of it.
Note that the example above is simplified as we actually have 20-30 mailing lists, so the new principal linda@external.com mailbox is continually flooded with duplicate emails.
The nodupes flag for linda@external.com doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas on why this works as intended with sabrina@internal.com, yet linda@external.com gets flooded with duplicates?

I would suspect is the issue of exactly how Linda was added to the requisite mailing lists.
If Linda goes to the main subscription page for any of the mailing lists to which she is subscribed, and logs in (with Manage my Subscription), there is a button on the main screen that should let her list all mailing lists to which she is subscribed. Does she see them all?
Also, exactly which VERSION of Mailman?

Well, Linda has never actually logged in or subscribed to any mailman list. As the administrator I just manually added her to them. However, I am certain that Sabrina never did this either - she was manually added as well once apon a time.
Mailman is 2.1.3.
I will try to log in as Linda and see what I can as well.

I'd look at whether or not Mailman considers Linda as having one ID or many.
I also note in passing that Mailman v2.1.3 is rather old. Current version is v2.1.9 and there are a number of security fixes in it.

After some significant screwing around, as far as I can tell Linda only has 1 ID inside of Mailman.

An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions is sometimes also considered an email client, but more commonly referred to as webmail.
