Hi CRAK,
I was looking to do it for every mail file, not just a few, do you know if there is a replication setting just not to replicate the design for all of my mail files?

Some options.
i)The design refresh happens at night by default and is in the notes.ini
look for entry atx=design or similar and remove only the design task. This should stop design happening on the server at all.

ii)If you only want to change mail file design update you can change the design name in the mail file template temporarily so the design task will not find the relevant template to update from.

iii)Make a copy of the .ntf template file and then remove it from the mail servers. I try to have all templates located on a single server where I can control design design updates and refresh.

iv)Make sure all mail files have an administration server selected in ACL which is not the mail server. Then set design option on all effected mail files to refresh on admin server only. Change this in the original template as well and this should replicate to any new mail files created. Existing mail files will have to be changed in designer. Two click per mail file.

Hope that helps

You better tell us about those strange issues you're having instead of suspending designer task.
Maybe we can help you find out the cause...

I second this motion: what are the issues?

For instance, do you run a network of servers of multiple releases, and mail databases are on more than one server?

Knew there was something I forgot to add on the end :)

maybe start a new thread with your main issue so we can all have a few suggestions, scratch head, umm and ahh as appropriate :)

Sounds like a version issue or design elements still pointing to an old template specifically.

Do you want to
a) prevent design from replicating between servers, or
b) to prevent design from being refreshed from the template each night?

For a), you should either turn off design note replication, as CRAK suggested, or set LocalDomainServers to Editor access. ย Both of these are done at a database level - you cannot do it globally, although there are of course tools (or you could write a script) to do it to all databases on the server or in the domain. ย A question in this case: Why do you have multiple replicas of mail files? ย Are they clustered?

For b), disable the nightly running of the Design server task. ย It is safer in in any case to run it on demand rather than automatically - the usual tradeoff applies between control/safety/security on the one hand and convenience on the other.

Lotus Software produced the Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet program, and later developed Lotus Notes, a groupware and email system. Following its acquisition by IBM, the Notes and Domino client/server collaborative platform were expanded to include functions such as email, calendars, to-do lists, contacts management, teamrooms, discussion forums, file sharing, microblogging, instant messaging, blogs, and user directories. IBM also release SmartSuite, a comprehensive office suite, and followed that with Symphony, unrelated to the Lotus suite of the same name.
