Learn more about EE's community policy on using outside information from sources such as Google and OpenAI ChatGPT.

Use of the Internet and Third Party Information

You can read the technical and detailed version here, but to summarize... We do not allow posting, transmitting or linking to statements that are intentionally false or misleading or that plagiarize other works.

Translation:

  • Using Google and other sources of information to assist in answering questions or create content is acceptable.
  • Do not intentionally provide false, incorrect, or harmful information to another member.
  • Don't post blind links.
  • Information or research should be supplemental, supported by your own experience, opinion, advice, or expertise. (Translation: if you are going to use outside sources such as Google or OpenAI, always verify and support that information with your own experience and expertise.)
  • As helpful and as valuable as information from the internet can be, we believe that people's personal experience and knowledge is far more valuable.

Open AI ChatGPT

We understand that OpenAI ChatGPT, and AI in general are going to continue to evolve, and we can't predict where it will go exactly. Our Community Team will continue to update our members on our position on how this feature should or should not be utilized in the community. Our position and our approach will evolve (as it must) as the technology itself evolves.

Right now (Dec 2023), we are treating ChatGPT as we do any other form of research or search engine that provides information, understanding that ChatGPT and other similar tools are incredibly powerful.

It is not against the Code of Conduct to utilize information from ChatGPT. However, it should be used under the same rules and community values described above in this article.
